As part of InnoTech, the AL Maritime activity connects a wide range of global markets to essential molecules across borders and oceans. Air Liquide Maritime is organized along four business units, namely Offshore Energies, Cryogenic Supply, Global Rare Gases and Global Helium, and is also supporting OCEOS, a joint venture to offer CO2 shipping and barging services for CCS projects across Europe. The organisation has grown significantly over the last few years and regroups 10 sites located in 9 countries with more than 200 employees.
Air Liquide Maritime Sdn Bhd specializes in cryogenic tank and equipment rental for the offshore and maritime industries as well as in cryogenic transport of molecules, and provides a full range of repair and testing services.
The candidate should have good understanding of mechanical design, system integration, layouting & packaging with strong proficiency in Solidworks, Autocad, familiar with industry standards such as ASME, API and ANSI. The candidate is also responsible for developing project deliverables, design reviews and collaborating with other cross function teams to meet the project requirements including the deadlines
Your expertise will directly support Air Liquide’s world-class Cryogenic Air Separation Units (ASUs), Hydrogen Liquefaction plants, and Carbon Capture & Clean Energy initiatives. You will bridge the gap between complex aerodynamic turbomachinery and robust, shippable, modular skid packages.
Draft comprehensive technical specification sheets for turbo expanders and auxiliary equipment based on customer’s process requirements and Aero design.
Perform and validate critical mechanical, fluid, and thermal calculations for turboexpander auxiliary systems, including piping hydraulics, pressure drop analysis, heat exchanger sizing, safety relief valve (PSV) sizing, and structural lifting/loading criteria in compliance with applicable standards
Evaluate vendor proposals, perform technical bid tabulations, and serve as the primary technical point of contact with AL Turbo team/division.
Review performance curves, rotordynamic limits, and system P&IDs provided by AL Turbo and auxiliary equipment suppliers to verify design integrity and enforce alignment with company and client requirements
Participate in Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and mechanical running tests at vendor facilities, as needed.
Collaborate closely with various engineering disciplines (process, instrumentation, electrical) and project management to ensure seamless boundaries, interfaces and adherence to project goals and objectives.
Lead and participate in HAZOP, and 3D Model Reviews to guarantee the inherent safety, operability, and maintainability of the skid package.
Ensure all designs rigorously adhere to Air Liquide's industrial safety guidelines and environmental regulations.
Leverage experience from previous projects and commissioning issues to implement improvements in system design and development.
Actively contribute to local and global Engineering & Construction (E&C) development efforts by sharing best practices, lessons learned, and innovative design solutions.
Stay up to date on advancements in industry standards, mechanical design, and system engineering to continuously improve system designs.
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Minimum of 10+ years of dedicated experience in the design, packaging, and integration of high-speed rotating equipment (turbo expanders, centrifugal compressors, or steam turbines) within the oil & gas, petrochemical, or industrial gas sectors.
Proven track record of delivering modularized skid packages from conceptual design through to fabrication.
Knowledge of Codes & Standards: Understanding of API 617 (Axial and Centrifugal Compressors and Expander-compressors), API 614 (Lubrication, Shaft-sealing, and Oil-control Systems), ASME B31.3 (Process Piping), and ASME Section VIII (Pressure Vessels).
Software Proficiency: Strong hands-on experience with 3D CAD modeling tools (e.g., Aveva E3D/PDMS, SolidWorks) and structural analysis software (e.g., Solidworks, ANSYS).
Cryogenic Insight: thorough understanding of material selection and thermal insulation requirements for cryogenic applications (temperatures below -150°C).
