We own and operate over 2,000 miles of industrial gas pipelines in the U.S. supplying mainly oxygen, nitrogen, hydrogen and syngas in large quantities from multiple production sources to major customers in the chemicals, petrochemicals, refining and steel industries. Our pipeline operations and industrial gas production facilities are closely monitored 24/7 within our leading-edge operations control center located in Houston, Texas. Our operations control group monitors over 89,000 data points and assists with product supply and coordination. We are constantly optimizing our supply network to provide high reliability and energy efficiencies allowing Air Liquide to adjust supply needs more quickly and effectively enabling growth to our customers.
This position is responsible for managing syngas production activities safely and reliably, complying with regulatory requirements, managing costs effectively and developing personal skills and competencies of direct reports. The Production Manager supervises day-to-day operations, maintenance, efficiency and process troubleshooting, develops and implements MOCs, assists with environmental reporting and any other duties delegated by the plant manager.
This role is a developmental position leading to plant management at this or another Air Liquide facility. The facility includes three Partial Oxidation (POX) Units, three Air Separation Units (ASUs) with backup systems, two amine CO2 recovery systems, one Membrane System, LIN Liquefier, polished water and steam/condensate system providing supply criticality and eight direct reports.

Responsibilities

Two year associates degree in a technical field OR equivalent related operations experience required in lieu of a degree AND 10+ years years technical knowledge and/or work experience & understanding of plant process; POX, amine CO2 recovery, ASU, membrane, steam and condensate systems.
Technical and working understanding of Partial Oxidation, syngas production and subsystems.
Familiarity with regulatory requirements for operating plants, including Process Safety Management, OSHA regulations, Environmental Regulations and state and local requirements.
Solid foundation in technical fundamentals and operations to accept/apply/challenge external technical recommendations
Trained in process safety elements and process safety management
Knowledgeable and trained in root cause analysis
Able to remotely access intranet and utilize internal systems such as Intelex, PI, Maximo® and Oracle
Trainable on Distributed Process Control (DCS) operation and troubleshooting (Delta V, Foxboro, Triconex and PI)
Able to deliver and explain training material to operating personnel.
Extremely organized; effective at time management
Able to establish/maintain a plant filing system, control of engineering documents; ability to read/red-line key operating documents
Displays mechanical and electrical aptitude for equipment operation/troubleshooting
Working knowledge of commercial agreements and AL customer relations
Excellent communication, team leadership skills
General understanding of accounting principles; working knowledge of plant operating budget
Knowledgeable in general maintenance management processes/procedures including work management, planning and scheduling, PM/PdM compliance and TAR planning
Knowledgeable in capital process including ACE submittal, simple economic analysis
