As the North Subregion EHS Manager, you will provide timely, accurate, and relevant Environmental, Health, and Safety advice and leadership. Your responsibilities include training, site assessments, accident and incident investigation, and reviewing and assisting in applying global EHS policies and procedures. You will ensure compliance with corporate policies and local regulations while improving operational efficiency and reducing accident rates.  The role is based in Allentown, PA with responsibility in the Northern United States and Eastern Canada.

The North EH&S Manager is responsible for leading a team of Environmental, Health, Safety, and Driver Safety professionals and providing strategic direction, technical expertise, and operational support across 75+ sites in the Northern United States and Eastern Canada. This role ensures compliance with applicable federal, state, provincial, and local regulations, Air Products standards, and industry best practices while driving continuous improvement in EHS performance.

Core responsibilities:

  •  Drive a culture of safety across the region to reduce injuries and incidents through risk reduction, proactive mitigation, and leading safety indicators.
  • Provide strategic problem-solving and decision-making support to site leadership on complex EHS, compliance, and operational issues
  • Develop and execute regional EHS strategy aligned with business objectives and operational priorities.
  •  Assure completion of EHS programs to ensure compliance with local, state, federal, and company requirements. Track corrective action plans and drive to completion with Internal AP procedures, internal/external audits.
  • Investigate and mitigate EHS, and driver safety risks, ensuring effective management of change and corrective actions.
  • Lead responses to OSHA recordable injuries, lost-time incidents, and significant EHS events, including case management and return-to-work programs.
  • Lead, develop, and mentor a team of Environmental, Health, Safety, and Driver Safety professionals, including succession planning and talent development.
  •  Partner with site leadership to strengthen EHS accountability, engagement, and performance via continuous improvement, training, and site assessments.
  • Review and analyze EHS performance trends and initiatives to improve compliance, reduce risk, and enhance operational effectiveness.
  • Represent the organization with local and regional regulatory groups and maintain knowledge of emerging EHS regulations and best practices.
  •  Support the company's long-term growth and profitability through effective risk management and operational excellence initiatives.
  •  Travel up to 50% within the North Subregion.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Engineering, occupational health and safety, or other technical undergraduate degree (Chemical, Mechanical, or Electrical); advanced degree preferred.
  • EHS qualification (CSP, ASP, SMS, CHMM etc.) or equivalent experience (e.g. Professional Engineer Lic) preferred.
  • Minimum of 7+ years of field safety and EHS management experience in a petrochemical, refinery, industrial gas, or related facility.
  • 3+ years’ experience managing and developing direct reports
  • Operations, construction, logistics, or plant management experience.
  • Proven understanding and effective interpretation of legislation/regulations and compliance strategies (OSHA, EPA, PSM/RMP, DOT, ISO); familiarity with Canadian regulations a plus
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, customer relations, and proven analytically driven problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage Internal/External audits and resolve regulatory responses effectively and to completion.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet critical deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills.
  • Must have a proactive approach and the ability to build trust with frontline workers and management.
  • Self-motivated and results driven. Collaborative team player with a focus on achieving outcomes.
  • Passport required for international travel between the United States and Canada.
