POSITION OVEVIEW
Air Products is growing investments in the Electronics industrial gases market. This includes supply of both atmospheric and specialty gases. Electronic component producers place extremely high demands on suppliers for reliability, product quality, and safe handling across all aspects of production, transportation, and customer delivery. In support of this growth, Air Products is looking to hire an experienced Subject Matter Expert (SME) in Emergency Planning, Preparedness, and Response (EP&R or simply ER) for Electronics Specialty Gases (ESGs) to provide leadership for the company in the region for onsite and offsite ER. The position is based in Asia, primarily supporting regional growth, and will also provide ER leadership to other regions, as required.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Serve as the recognized technical expert for emergency planning, preparedness and response involving hazardous gases, and (ESGs)
• Provide expert guidance on gas behavior, release scenarios, hazard zones, PPE selection, monitoring strategies, isolation techniques, response limitations and disposal techniques.
• Support evaluation of new products, new mixtures, and new supply modes to ensure emergency planning, preparedness, and response implications are understood and addressed prior to startup.
• Act as a technical advisor to EHS, operations, product safety, and emergency response leadership during incident reviews, drills, and post incident learning.
• Design, deploy, maintain, and continuously improve ESG specific emergency response training curricula aligned with real world operating configurations and risk profiles.
• Develop gas and system specific ER training modules, including scenario based learning for cylinders, tube trailers, bulk supply, and Bulk Specialty Gas System (BSGS) interfaces with customer fabs.
• Ensure ER training content reflects response role boundaries, including what actions personnel can and cannot perform based on qualification levels
• Deliver ER training through classroom, virtual, and site based formats, tailored to operators, technicians, response teams, and leadership for on-site and off-site events
• Plan, conduct, and support tabletop exercises, functional drills, and field simulations, including coordination with mutual aid partners and public responders where appropriate.
• Support qualification and refresher training aligned with role levels (Awareness, Operations, Technician, Specialist, Incident Command), as required by regulatory requirements and company procedures.
• Support alignment of ER training with on-site and off-site emergency plans, ER team structures, Incident Command System, and escalation pathways.
• Strategize and collaborate with Global Emergency Response Lead on ER operations
• Maintain working knowledge in all related emergency response laws and regulations for the area.
• Facilitate after-action reviews for identified incidents to gather and track lessons learned.
• Contribute to emergency response standards, guidance documents, and best practices related to ESG operations.
• Monitor industry events, internal incidents, and regulatory or standards changes to proactively update ER training and guidance.
• Engage with commercial team members in an ER advisory capacity to understand new applications of ESGs; work with Engineering, Operations, and Process Safety Teams to assure that Air Products ER practices and training meet customer requirements, regional codes, and standards.
REQUIREMENTS
• At least 15 years demonstrated strong capability and experience in emergency planning, preparedness, and response for ESGs.
• Practical knowledge of ESG hazards, the equipment and components required for emergency planning, preparedness, and response for these gases on-site and off-site.
• Established networks of external ER contacts across the Electronics industry
• Ability to communicate complex ideas, both verbally and written, in a simple effective way to non-experts inside and outside Air Products.
• Self-starter, able to operate effectively without day-to-day supervision.
• Team-player who engages others and works to a common goal.
• Fluent in English and local language.
*Location is flexible within Taiwan.
