At Air Products, we reimagine what’s possible. By tapping into the motivation of our people and our collective experience, we create the ideas and innovations that drive us forward. When we come together – where every voice is heard and everyone knows they belong and matter – we create solutions that launch people into space, support lifesaving care in hospitals, and enable the construction of groundbreaking, world scale production facilities.

We are looking for a PG Operator to join our team at our Walkden depot. In this role, you will be responsible for safely controlling all depot filling activities, including operating electrical motors, running cryogenic and non-cryogenic pumps, moving and connecting cylinders to filling points, and loading completed cylinders onto pallets. You will also support loading operations through the safe use of a forklift truck, complete process documentation accurately and legibly, analyse both incoming and finished products to ensure compliance with quality specifications, and receive incoming product deliveries while carrying out conformity checks. This is a hands-on operational role that requires a strong commitment to safety, quality, and operational excellence within a fast-paced production environment.

What will you do:

  • Ensure all activities are carried out in accordance with established operating procedures.
  • Maintain high production standards to prevent contamination and perform all required analytical procedures.
  • Operate depot systems safely and efficiently to support daily production and distribution activities.
  • Identify and report operational faults promptly to minimise downtime and maintain safe operations.
  • Handle cylinders safely, including the loading and unloading of pallets and vehicles.
  • Carry out cylinder inspection, cleaning, painting, labelling, and minor cylinder repairs as required.
  • Maintain safe working practices at all times and proactively report any conditions that could lead to unsafe situations.
  • Comply with all applicable legal, corporate, safety, and environmental standards.
  • Take responsibility for the safety and environmental welfare of yourself, colleagues, contractors, and visitors.
  • Wear and appropriately use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in designated operational areas.
  • Maintain high standards of personal hygiene in line with site and product quality requirements.
  • Complete all quality and process documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Perform analytical instrument calibration checks in accordance with established procedures.
  • Report any instances of product failing to meet specification and support investigations as required.
  • Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement, operational excellence, and safety throughout the depot.

What we are looking for:

  • Ability to drive Forklift trucks in a safe and efficient manner
  • Proven operational or engineering experience within an industry that maintains high standards of safety and safe working practices
  • A can-do attitude with the ability to work independently and use your initiative
  • A positive, energetic, and proactive approach to your work
  • A strong commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement
