We are looking for a VAT Reporting & SAP Specialist, based in Barcelona (Cornella).

The VAT Reporting & SAP Specialist plays a key role in ensuring accurate VAT compliance and reporting across multiple EMEA countries. Acting as the link between VAT Accounting, business stakeholders and SAP teams, this position combines indirect tax expertise with systems knowledge to drive compliance, process improvements and continuous optimization of VAT-related processes.

  • Act as the key SAP Power User supporting VAT compliance, VAT returns, EC Sales Lists (ESL), and Intrastat reporting across selected EMEA countries.

  • Translate indirect tax regulatory requirements into efficient SAP and reporting solutions, ensuring accuracy and compliance.

  • Support VAT audits, tax authority enquiries, and compliance-related documentation.

  • Provide backup support for critical VAT compliance and reporting activities to ensure business continuity.

  • Monitor VAT legislative developments across countries within scope and assess their operational impact.

  • Ensure timely implementation of regulatory changes within SAP processes and VAT reporting tools.

  • Support the identification and mitigation of VAT compliance risks.

  • Act as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for VAT-related processes and system functionalities.

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on efficiency, standardization, and data quality.

  • Participate in cross-functional projects related to indirect tax, SAP enhancements, and business transformation initiatives.

  • Support VAT-related SAP configuration, including VAT condition setup, rate changes, and system enhancements.

  • Manage VAT-related system incidents and changes through Remedy tickets.

  • Coordinate testing activities and validate system updates impacting VAT processes.

  • Develop training materials and deliver training to end users to ensure effective adoption of VAT processes and controls.

  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation or a related discipline.

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in VAT compliance, indirect tax accounting, or VAT reporting.

  • Good understanding of VAT regulations within EMEA.

  • Experience working in an international and multicultural environment.

  • Hands-on experience with SAP, preferably within VAT, tax or finance processes.

  • Advanced Excel skills; knowledge of Access is considered an advantage.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication abilities.

  • Ability to translate business and regulatory requirements into system solutions.

  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills with the ability to meet deadlines.

  • Continuous improvement mindset and process-oriented approach.

  • Ability to work effectively across functions and in a multicultural environment.
