Position Overview
The Outpatient Family Practice Provider will deliver comprehensive medical care in a full-time walk-in clinic setting at the IHS facility in Ogema, Minnesota. The provider will evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients presenting with a wide range of acute and chronic conditions. The clinic operates with two providers seeing an average combined volume of 12 patients per day, ensuring a manageable workload and collaborative clinical environment.

This role supports IHS’s mission to raise the physical, mental, social, and spiritual health of American Indian and Alaska Native populations to the highest level.

Work Schedule & Patient Volume
Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00 PM – 4:30 PM
Clinic Type: Outpatient Walk-In
Average Patient Volume:
-20–30 patients per day total
-Shared between two providers

Key Responsibilities
-Provide direct outpatient medical care to walk-in patients of all ages
-Perform medical histories, physical exams, assessments, and diagnoses
-Treat acute illnesses, manage chronic conditions, and provide follow-up care
-Order and interpret diagnostic tests, labs, and imaging
-Prescribe medications in accordance with federal, state, and IHS guidelines
-Document all patient encounters accurately in the electronic health record (EHR)
-Collaborate with nursing staff, behavioral health, pharmacy, and specialty services
-Provide patient education, preventive care guidance, and referrals as appropriate
-Comply with all IHS policies, federal regulations, and clinical protocols
-Maintain professional standards, cultural sensitivity, and patient confidentiality

Required Qualifications
Education:
-MD or DO from an accredited medical school

Licensure:
-Current, unrestricted license in any U.S. state, territory, or D.C.
-Board Certified

Experience:
-Minimum 2 years of clinical experience in outpatient, primary care, or urgent/walk-in care settings preferred
-Experience in rural, tribal, or underserved communities strongly preferred

Certifications:
-Current BLS (required)
-ACLS (preferred)
-DEA registration (or eligibility to obtain)
