About Alaan
Alaan is the Middle East’s first AI-powered spend management platform, built to help businesses save time and money.
Our all-in-one solution combines smart corporate cards, real-time expense tracking, AI-powered automation, seamless accounting integrations, and deep financial insights- designed to simplify finance operations and maximize control over company spend.
Founded in 2022, Alaan is already the trusted partner of over 2000 leading businesses across the UAE and KSA, including G42, Careem, McDonald’s, Tabby, Al Barari, Rove Hotels, Rivoli, and CarSwitch. Together, our customers have saved over AED 100 million with Alaan.
In just three years, Alaan has become the #1 expense management platform in the Middle East- and we’ve done it while becoming profitable.
Alaan is also backed by Y Combinator and top global investors, including Peak XV (formerly Sequoia India & SEA), and built by a world-class team with experience from McKinsey, BCG, Goldman Sachs, Careem, Rippling, and other high-growth companies. This creates an environment where employees learn from top-tier talent while building at startup speed.
We’re not just building software. We’re reimagining how finance works for modern businesses across the region.
About the role
As an Operations Manager (Billing), you will be responsible for ensuring accurate, reliable, and scalable billing operations for our customers. You will own the end-to-end flow of how customers are charged - from plan setup and invoicing to collections and adjustments. This role involves investigating issues, resolving discrepancies, and working across systems and teams to ensure everything functions correctly. If you are detail-oriented, enjoy solving complex problems, and are motivated to improve processes in a fast-paced environment, this role offers strong ownership and learning opportunities.
What you'll do
- Own end-to-end billing and financial operations across the customer lifecycle - including plan setup, invoicing, collections, and adjustments
- Ensure all financial flows are accurate and consistent across systems - including subscriptions, usage-based charges, and credits
- Translate pricing, contracts, and commercial agreements into correct system configurations and billing outcomes
- Review and validate invoices, balances, and financial outputs to ensure they are correct before reaching customer
- Investigate discrepancies across transactions, balances, or payouts and work with internal teams to identify and resolve root causes.
- Manage customer-facing financial adjustments such as credits, refunds, incentives, and billing corrections in a structured and auditable way
- Monitor receivables and follow up on outstanding payments, working with internal teams to drive collections and reduce ageing invoices
- Handle plan changes, upgrades/downgrades, and edge cases, ensuring billing remains accurate without impacting downstream calculations
- Partner with Product and Engineering to improve system reliability, reduce manual work, and scale billing processes
- Build and maintain clear processes to ensure consistency, accuracy, and efficiency as the business grows
What we are looking for
- 3-6 Years of experience in FinTech, Payments, or Banking Operations, preferably in a startup environment or from a Big Four consulting firm.
- Strong attention to detail, especially when working with financial data and systems
- Experience in B2B SaaS is a plus.
- Owner mentality and hands-on approach, demonstrating a willingness to cover various tasks.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to multitask, prioritise, and manage time effectively
- Proven ability to work independently and make decisions autonomously
What's in it for you
- Contribute to building the Middle East’s most beloved fintech brand from the ground up
- Benefit from a role with significant ownership and accountability
- Thrive in a flexible hybrid culture with ample work-life balance
- Participate in exciting offsite events
- Competitive salary and equity
- Enjoy additional perks like travel allowances, gym memberships, and more
