Royal Truck & Equipment is looking for a full-time Special Assembler with hydraulic and electrical background to join our team!  Our company has been a leader in the traffic safety industry for more than two decades, with a focus on building crash attenuator trucks (TMA trucks) that are used in highway construction to protect crews in work zones. 

The employee will be responsible for assembly and installation of components on TMA (truck mounted attenuator) trucks. Work duties for this position include installing various components onto different types of chassis which include Class 5 trucks and pickup trucks. Skills also include some hydraulic system hook up and electrical component assembly. The job includes climbing and lifting components to assembly. 

The Special Assembler will: 

  • Read and interpret work instructions, prints, blueprints, and tape measure dimensions to accurately complete assigned tasks. 
  • Complete assembly tasks within established production standards and time requirements. 
  • Meet all quality standards and workmanship requirements associated with each operation. 
  • Troubleshoot electrical issues that may occur during the assembly process. 
  • Complete required documentation and production records supporting each process. 
  • Cross-train and perform work in multiple assembly workstations as needed. 
  • Follow all safety policies, procedures, and PPE requirements. 
  • Use basic hand and power tools required to perform assembly and installation tasks. 
  • Lift, carry, climb, kneel, crouch, and perform other physical activities necessary to complete assigned work. 
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with supervisors and team members. 
  • Demonstrate the visual ability required to safely and accurately perform work, including near vision, distance vision, depth perception, and color recognition. 
  • Work collaboratively to meet production schedules, quality expectations, and customer requirements. 

The ideal candidate will have: 

  • Experience using basic hand and power tools. 
  • Strong 12V electrical troubleshooting and wiring skills. 
  • Vehicle assembly and truck upfitting experience. 
  • Solid mechanical aptitude and hands-on problem-solving ability. 
  • Ability to read blueprints, prints, and work instructions. 
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills. 
  • Ability to work efficiently and meet production deadlines. 
  • Willingness to follow safety procedures and wear required PPE. 
  • Flexibility to work overtime and weekends as production schedules require. 

Education and Experience 

  • High school diploma or GED preferred. 
  • Minimum two (2) years of truck upfitting, vehicle assembly, or related mechanical manufacturing experience required. 
  • Experience with 12V electrical systems, wiring, and troubleshooting preferred. 

 

Working Conditions 

  • Manufacturing environment with exposure to typical production equipment and conditions. 
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, crouching, kneeling, and repetitive hand movements. 
  • Must be able to push, pull, and lift components weighing up to 40 pounds. 
  • Ability to safely climb on and around vehicles and equipment to perform assembly and installation tasks. 
  • Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
