The Construction Project Manager will oversee contract reviews, technical drawing reviews, project planning, material procurement, staffing coordination, scheduling, and client relations. This position combines office-based project management responsibilities with regular site visits throughout North America.
This role has been created to cover a current vacancy within the team.
Responsibilities
~2 min read- →Manage construction projects through all phases, including tender review, contract administration, project planning, procurement, installation coordination, execution, and closeout documentation.
- →Review technical specifications, drawings, contracts, and project requirements to identify discrepancies, omissions, risks, and required submissions.
- →Lead and supervise a team of Civil Technologists, providing coaching, mentorship, technical guidance, and performance support.
- →Coordinate project schedules, staffing requirements, subcontractors, material deliveries, and installation activities.
- →Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, contractors, consultants, and project stakeholders throughout project execution.
- →Resolve technical, operational, and contractual issues that arise during and after project completion.
- →Review project designs, reports, and technical documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance with project requirements.
- →Ensure final designs, as-built drawings, operation manuals, and quality assurance documentation are complete prior to project turnover.
- →Monitor project progress to ensure compliance with safety standards, quality requirements, company procedures, and applicable regulatory codes.
- →Collaborate with internal departments including Sales, Engineering, Operations, and Procurement to support successful project delivery.
- →Review technical calculations and project estimates prior to tender submissions and quotations.
- →Support the development and improvement of project management processes, technical procedures, and operational standards.
- →Contribute to new product development initiatives, product testing, and implementation of innovative solutions.
- →Maintain knowledge of product applications, product availability, pricing structures, and technical capabilities.
- →Maintain client and company confidence by keeping information confidential and secure.
- →Foster strong relationships with clients, contractors, suppliers, and corporate partners.
Requirements
~1 min read- Completion of a College Diploma in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Engineering Technology, or a related discipline. A university degree is considered an asset.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in construction project coordination or project management, including at least 4 years in an ICI (Industrial, Commercial, and Institutional) construction management or supervisory role.
- PMP certification is considered an asset.
- Strong understanding of construction methodologies, project management principles, and construction materials.
- Strong knowledge of the Construction Act, CCDC contracts, and CCA documentation.
- Experience reviewing technical drawings, specifications, contracts, and project documentation.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and project management software.
- Experience with AutoCAD, MicroStation, Civil 3D, or similar design software is considered an asset.
- Previous construction site experience and exposure to field operations.
- Demonstrated commitment to workplace health and safety.
- Previous experience working within ISO 9001 environments is considered an asset.
- Excellent leadership, communication, problem-solving, organizational, and conflict-resolution skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Must hold a valid Ontario Driver's License and maintain a satisfactory driving record.
- Must be able to travel within Canada and the United States up to 25% of the time.
- Must be able to comply with criminal background checks, drug and alcohol testing requirements, as applicable.
