The Waste Management Officer plays a crucial role in optimising service delivery, and ensuring the efficient operation of waste collection, disposal and/or recovery processes on the client site. This role requires a professional with strong expertise in operational management and compliance, who can develop further the client relationship, identify further business opportunities, and ensure waste management operations run smoothly and in compliance with environmental regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Scheduling, organising and monitoring activities of Waste Contractor Operators;
- Collect, analyse, and report data on waste generation, recycling rates, and circular economy performance metrics;
- Responsible for maintaining and improve databases and tracking systems for waste and recycling activities;
- Present regular reports to senior management;
- Responsible for organising and conduct training sessions;
- Coordinating all shipments and preparing legal documentations including for waste streams which are not falling under the scope of the general waste contractor;
- Supporting the Company in external auditing and reporting, representing clean and traceable waste Management documentations for all waste streams and Reuse materials including the ones which are not falling under the scope of the general waste contractor;
- Ensuring all safety requirements are being followed by the contractor`s employees;
- Supporting the company`s operational need in activities coordination including waste generation;
- Supporting the company`s management of change involving waste generation or projects;
- Ensuring legal compliance to waste management obligations including ADR requirements;
- Overall Coordination of the sites of operation.
Collaboration:
- Work closely with both the operations and sales teams to ensure alignment between sales commitments and operational capacity.
- Collaborate with permitting department to ensure compliance with local and European waste management regulations.
- Coordinate with finance team to manage budgets, sales forecasts, and pricing strategies.
- Provide feedback to operations and business development teams to improve waste management services and introduce innovative recovery and/or disposal solutions.
Reporting and Analysis:
- Prepare and present operational performance reports, tracking KPIs such as revenue growth, customer satisfaction, and operational efficiency.
- Analyse operational trends, competitor activity, and industry developments to support strategic and operational improvements.
- Utilise data analytics to identify areas of improvement, driving cost reductions and increasing service efficiency.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Proven experience (3-5 years) in waste management operations, environmental services, or related industry.
- Diploma in Business, Sales, Operations, Environmental Science, or a related field would be considered an asset.
- Strong understanding of waste management processes, including waste collection, recovery, disposal, and sustainability practices.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple projects.
