Transportation Manager

The Transportation Manager will be key role in ensuring the success and operational excellence of the Alcon European Surgical transportation network. The associate will be a Subject Matter Expert in all areas of European SX secondary transportation, focused on analysis, projects and continuous improvement.

• Lead / Support surgical freight initiatives  
• Be the SPOC / Project Lead for several transportation topics 
• Budget: Support with the preparation of the annual carrier budget + monitoring 
• Oversee the overall shipment flows  
• Cross collaboration with manufacturing sites, 3PL’s providers, and distribution centers on transfers and transportation needs between sites  
• Interface between Transportation SX and Global Transportation, APL Supply Chain HUB, EL Supply Chain / Logistics Operation, Warehouses, IT, etc. 
• Attend weekly orchestrator calls with the countries and stakeholders from other functions (S&OP, WH&D, Customer Operations) / lead and coordinate the transportation topics 
• Collaborate with our procurement team for RFQs and ad-hoc freight cost analysis  
• Perform “ad-hoc” analysis and on-going statistics 
• Active participation in continuous improvement process (CIP) by completing CIP projects to drive savings towards financial targets 
• Measure & improve service performance (on-time, OTIF…) 
• Resolve transportation routing errors, late pickups/deliveries  
• Support Global and Regional financial targets through operational excellence 

Key Performance Indicators :  

• Regional freight expense as % of sales & savings
  On-time delivery, carrier spend, poi, and product "brand protection
  Key service metrics (damages, on-time delivery- shipped on time and shipped cost per unit)

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO ALCON
•     Relevant education enabling successful performance in logistics, supply chain, or related fields
•     Experience in transportation management, freight forwarding, vendor management, or supply chain operations
•     Strong technical understanding of logistics processes, customs compliance, and GxP‑aligned documentation practices
•     Behaviors that include proactive problem‑solving, clear communication, accountability, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
