Allegany County

• Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma.
• Seven (7) years of experience in public works construction and/or maintenance work, including at least two (2) years in a supervisory capacity with budget responsibility.

• Possession of a valid New York State Class D driver’s license at the time of appointment and throughout the duration of employment.
• Pursuant to New York State Public Officers Law Section 3, the successful candidate must be a United States citizen, at least 18 years of age, and a resident of New York State and Allegany County, the political subdivision in which the duties will be performed.

Definition of Public Works Construction and/or Maintenance: Includes work in the fields of Architecture, Bridge, Engineering, Facilities, Road, Solid Waste, Water/Sewer, and/or Weights and Measures.

• An associate’s degree in Civil Technology, Mechanical Technology, or a closely related field.
• Four (4) years of experience in public works construction and/or maintenance work, including at least two (2) years in a supervisory capacity with budget responsibility.

• A bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a closely related field.
• Two (2) years of experience in public works construction and/or maintenance work in a supervisory capacity with budget responsibility.

Education Note: Education beyond the secondary level must be obtained from an institution recognized or accredited by the New York State Department of Education’s Board of Regents as a post-secondary, degree-granting institution.
