Data Engineer – IBM DB2

Are you passionate about building high-performance data pipelines and modernizing enterprise data platforms? We're looking for an experienced Data Engineer with deep IBM DB2 expertise to help drive the evolution of our payroll and financial data ecosystem.

In this role, you'll design, build, and operate the critical data integration layer connecting IBM DB2, custom applications, ETL platforms, and our modern AWS-based data stack. You'll play a key role in delivering reliable, scalable, and high-quality data that powers payroll and financial operations every day.

• →Design and build batch and event-driven data pipelines using Python and/or Java.
• →Develop and optimize IBM DB2 (DB2 for i and/or LUW) data access, SQL, stored procedures, and extraction strategies.
• →Build integrations between DB2, internal applications, and enterprise platforms such as ERP and financial systems.
• →Implement data quality, validation, monitoring, alerting, and reconciliation processes to ensure payroll-grade accuracy.
• →Apply modern data architecture principles including data modeling, lineage, governance, partitioning, and idempotency.
• →Design event-driven solutions using Kafka and help modernize legacy data flows into cloud-native architectures.
• →Collaborate with Engineering, Product, Data, and Operations teams to define data contracts and deliver scalable solutions.

• 5+ years of experience building and operating production data pipelines.
• Strong experience with IBM DB2, including advanced SQL, stored procedures, and query optimization.
• Proficiency in Python and/or Java.
• Hands-on experience with AWS Glue, TimeXtender, dbt, Kafka, and AWS services such as S3, Lambda, and IAM.
• Solid understanding of data architecture principles and modern cloud data platforms.
• Experience with DevOps practices, CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, and containerized environments is a plus.

• IBM i / AS400 and DB2 for i experience.
• JD Edwards EnterpriseOne or ERP integrations.
• CDC technologies (Debezium, NiFi, IBM InfoSphere CDC, etc.).
• Experience modernizing legacy ETL or mainframe environments.
• Payroll, accounting, financial services, or ERP domain experience.
• Terraform, CloudFormation, ECS, EKS, or Kubernetes.

In your first year, you'll:

• Deliver highly reliable production data pipelines connecting DB2 to our modern data platform.
• Become the subject matter expert for DB2 integration and extraction.
• Lead the transition from legacy batch processes to event-driven architectures.
• Improve reliability and recovery across mission-critical payroll data workflows.
• Help shape the future of our cloud data architecture.
