The Electrical Apprentice / Journeyperson will take directions from the Electrical Foreperson. This role supports industrial and large-scale construction projects through the installation, connection, testing, and maintenance of electrical systems. The Electrical Journeyperson and/or Apprentice work under the direction of the Electrical Foreperson and collaborates closely with the electrical team to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with drawings, codes, and project requirements. Journeypersons may be responsible for leading tasks and mentoring apprentices, while apprentices will work under supervision to develop trade skills and progress toward certification.
Responsibilities

- →Install, connect, test, and maintain electrical systems, equipment, and components.
- →Assemble and install electrical wiring, conduit, panels, and equipment on industrial and construction sites.
- →Connect wiring in electrical circuits and networks, ensuring proper component compatibility.
- →Read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and specifications.
- →Troubleshoot electrical issues, identify hazards or malfunctions, and complete repairs as required.
- →Ensure compliance with applicable electrical codes, safety regulations, and company policies.
- →Participate in daily safety meetings, inspections, and site safety practices.
- →Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
Requirements
~1 min read- Valid Electrician Journeyperson Trade Certificate (Red Seal, considered an asset)
- Experience in industrial, commercial, or large-scale construction electrical work.
- Ability to supervise tasks and mentor apprentices.
- Registered Electrical Apprentice with a recognized provincial training authority.
- Previous experience in construction or industrial electrical environments preferred.
- Strong willingness to learn, follow instructions, and advance within the trade.
- Solid understanding of construction procedures and safety practices.
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and dependability.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced construction environment.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Willingness to work project-based schedules and travel as required.
- Must be available to work on project sites near Red Deer, Alberta.
- Work performed on active industrial and construction sites.
- Exposure to varied weather and environmental conditions.
- Physically demanding work consistent with electrical construction.
