We are seeking an organized, detail-oriented Entry-Level Tax Staff Accountant to join our Walnut Creek office. This position supports the preparation of individual, business and trust tax returns, as well as related client deliverables.

The ideal candidate is dependable, able to work accurately with financial information, and eager to build a career in tax. This role provides hands-on experience preparing tax returns, organizing client information, and supporting clients through integrated tax and financial planning services.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare workpapers and supporting schedules for various tax returns.
  • Enter and organize client tax data accurately in tax-preparation software.
  • Reconcile financial statements, bookkeeping records, and tax documents to return workpapers.
  • Assist with tax projections, estimated tax calculations, extensions, and notices.
  • Identify missing information, inconsistencies, and follow-up questions for review by senior staff.
  • Exhibit strong communication skills (verbal; written; presentation) with clients, advisors, tax authorities, firm staff, and management
  • Performs other duties as assigned

 

Requirements

  • BS/BA Degree, accounting preferred
  • CPA/EA-track candidate or interest in pursuing the licensure preferred.
  • Accounting or tax-preparation experience is helpful but not required.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work accurately with deadlines.
  • Strong Excel and other software
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities, clients and tight deadlines
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Professional judgment, discretion, and respect for confidential information.
  • A positive, collaborative attitude and willingness to learn from feedback.
