PURPOSE OF POSITION: A Level I Slope Maintenance Laborer is responsible for assisting in the construction of new ski trails and the maintenance of existing trails. To protect ski trails and service roads from the effects of erosion, reduce hazards to skiers on trails and forest stands, and to reduce noxious weeds on the mountain   

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Construct and maintain ski terrain 

  • Install and maintain erosion control systems, including water bars, installing erosion mats, and cleaning storm drains. Duties may require working during rainstorms. 

  • Splitting and hauling firewood 

  • Cut brush, dig, and move rocks 

  • Noxious weed abatement by chemical and mechanical means, including carrying a 40 lb. herbicide backpack sprayer 

  • Spread grass seed and straw mulch 

  • Setting up and tearing down buck & rail fencing   

  • Other duties as assigned  

QUALIFICATIONS:  

  • Must be able to lift and carry 60 lbs. 

  • Must supply own sturdy work boots, work pants, gloves, rain gear, backpack, water bottles, sunglasses and sun block.   

  • Valid driver’s license preferred   

DATES OF WORK: 

  • ASAP – Mid October 

PAY RATE: 

  • Pay: $21.00 per hour
