Product Ownership — Build-to-Print Serve as product owner for assigned build-to-print contracts,
Amca is building America’s new industrial base. Since the 1990s, our ability to build new aviation and military systems and maintain the ones we already have has eroded. Today, the gap between what the nation needs to produce and what it is capable of producing is the largest it has been in generations.
To help close that gap, Amca rapidly develops and manufactures new critical components and subsystems required to build and sustain the planes, military vehicles, and core infrastructure America needs. Today, we operate seven factories nationwide, including our advanced prototyping and testing headquarters in El Segundo, and deliver avionics, hydraulic, and electrical components for platforms such as the F-35, F-16, F/A-18, 737MAX, 787, A320neo, A321, Mk-48, and M1 Abrams.
The Supply Chain Engineer role at Amca has two parts. You are accountable for the reliability of the hardware Amca sources externally by qualifying suppliers, containing and dispositioning defects, and driving corrective action to root cause. You are also the product owner for build-to-print customer contracts. When a customer hands us a technical data package and a delivery date, you own reviewing the contract, building the schedule, driving engineering, procurement, and production against it, and answering to the customer for the result. At Amca, product ownership sits with the engineer closest to the hardware, because the person who understands a product is best positioned to execute on it.
We are looking for engineers with strong understanding of manufacturing and quality methods, a bias toward action, the ability to hold suppliers to requirements, and the judgment to make and keep commitments to customers.
Responsibilities
~1 min read- Serve as product owner for assigned build-to-print contracts, accountable from award through first article to rate production
- Decompose the customer technical data package and contract into a requirements matrix (drawing notes, specifications, quality clauses, test, inspection, marking, packaging, and delivery) and flow each requirement to the teams and suppliers who must satisfy it
- Build and own the program schedule (long lead procurement, tooling, first article, qualification, delivery), drive the cross-functional team to hold it, and escalate early and specifically when a commitment is at risk
- Act as the primary technical interface to the customer, communicating status, manufacturability questions, deviations and waivers, and source inspection
- Own supplier-caused defects end to end: containment, scope identification, removal of affected parts from production, disposition, return to vendor, and closure
- Run material review and nonconformance processes in coordination with quality, engineering, and production, including issues found at the supplier, at incoming inspection, and on the floor
- Issue supplier corrective and preventive action requests, evaluate responses on technical merit, and verify effectiveness rather than accepting a closed form
- Lead failure investigations and root cause analysis on dimensional, material, and process escapes
- Reduce the total volume of vendor-caused defects reaching Amca factories over time
Requirements
~2 min read- Evaluate and onboard new suppliers through capability assessment, quality system review, and onsite audit against AS9100, NADCAP, and program requirements
- Own first article inspection (AS9102) and production readiness for new and transitioning parts
- Define and communicate product technical requirements to suppliers, and confirm compliance before production release
- Provide technical support onsite at suppliers, including feedback on manufacturing methods, tooling, fixturing, and inspection approach across the life of the part
- Build supplier improvement plans where performance falls short and drive them to measurable outcomes
- Bachelor's degree in an engineering or STEM discipline
- 2+ years of professional or internship experience in a quality, manufacturing, process, or supply chain engineering role
- Demonstrated ability to read engineering drawings, including GD&T
- Demonstrated ownership of a project or program with a hard external commitment (you built the schedule, drove people who did not report to you, and were accountable for the outcome)
- Comfortable communicating directly with customers and suppliers on technical, quality, and schedule commitments
- This position is based in El Segundo, CA and is onsite five days a week. Remote work is not considered.
- Ability to travel up to 25% to supplier facilities, Amca factories, and customer sites
- Willing to work extended hours as needed to support production and resolve critical issues
- Valid driver's license

- Analyze supplier quality and delivery data to isolate systemic gaps and convert them into targeted projects at specific suppliers
- Identify and mitigate supply chain risk: single-source exposure, capacity constraints, long lead time items, and obsolescence
- Work with design, test, and build engineers to understand design intent and translate it into supplier requirements; read and interpret drawings, GD&T, and military and aerospace specifications
- Develop the standards and documentation that make supplier quality and program execution repeatable as Amca scales
In your first year, you demonstrate full ownership of your hardware: contractual first article and delivery milestones met, no customer escapes, no avoidable schedule slips the customer heard about after the fact, reduction in supplier-caused defects, and corrective actions closed with objective evidence.
Nice to Have

- Technical program management, product owner, or NPI experience in a hardware environment
- Deep technical experience in one or more commodities, such as machined parts, avionics and PCBAs, or injection molding
- AS9100 or a comparable quality management system, and supplier quality processes such as first article and supplier approval
- Experience owning schedules in a formal tool and reporting program status to leadership and external customers
