Responsibilities
~1 min readLet’s do this. Let’s change the world. The Commercial Leadership Program is Amgen’s MBA talent pipeline for future commercial leaders. Through this summer internship, you will contribute to a high-impact commercial project, build leadership and business skills, and gain exposure to the people, teams, and decisions that shape how Amgen brings medicines to patients.
The MBA internship is the pathway into Amgen’s full-time Commercial Leadership Program which includes 3 -12 month rotations that provides members with the unique opportunity to accelerate their commercial career in biotech through foundational sales & marketing experiences. Program graduates are now in leadership roles throughout Amgen.
Starting in 2021, Amgen initiated a company-wide virtual-first way of working with an option to be fully remote or partially onsite, thus allowing geographic flexibility.

- Build deep project expertise by partnering with brand teams and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Analyze business challenges, develop insights, and deliver clear recommendations to internal partners and leaders.
- Strengthen your commercial mindset by learning how Amgen makes decisions across customers, markets, products, and patient needs.
- Gain exposure to leaders across the Global Markets & Policy organization through networking, mentoring, and program experiences.
- Receive support from an executive mentor and CLP peer buddy throughout the summer.
- Experience Amgen’s culture through development sessions, networking opportunities, and social activities.
- Present your final recommendations and reflect on your learning, growth, and potential fit for the full-time CLP.
You will be supported by a project manager, executive mentor, CLP peer buddy, and the broader CLP community to help you navigate the organization, build relationships, and make the most of the summer experience. Interns are evaluated not only on project delivery, but also on leadership potential, commercial thinking, learning agility, collaboration, communication, and readiness for future growth in Global Markets & Policy.
Requirements
~2 min read- Expected continued enrollment in an accredited college or university following the internship program
- Student must be located in the United States for the duration of the internship program
- Must be available to work a full-time schedule.
- Enrolled in a Full-Time MBA Program and must be available to accept and commit to future full-time employment by July 2028, if offered

Amgen requires that all individuals applying for a grad internship or a co-op assignment at Amgen must meet the following criteria:
- 18 years or older
- Graduated with a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
- Currently enrolled in a Full-time MBA program for from an accredited college or university, with completion of the first year before the internship starts
- Minimum three years of work experience
- Biotechnology, pharmaceutical, or health care industry experience
- Sales and/or marketing experience
- International work experience
- Consulting experience
- Demonstrated leadership experience
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; ability to interact with all levels of management
- Ability to work effectively in a team-based, cross-functional environment
- The ability to operate independently, across functional lines, and with both internal and external customers and/or stakeholders
- Proven problem-solving, analytical, quantitative, organizational, and project management skills
- Ability to deliver results within aggressive timelines and amidst competing priorities
- Demonstrated personal initiative, self-motivation, resourcefulness, flexibility, and adaptability
- Demonstrated ability to deal with ambiguity
- Receptivity to coaching and feedback from management and peers
- Thoughtful cover letter that explains your interest in CLP and how your experiences align with Amgen’s mission and commercial leadership goals

The base pay range for this opportunity in the U.S. is $41.83 per hour.
