The Director of Trade Marketing, will lead and inspire the Trade Marketing function, overseeing a team of managers responsible for channel marketing, customer programs, and visual merchandising. As a key member of the Commercial Leadership Team, this role sets the strategic direction for trade marketing in the U.S., aligning efforts with brand marketing, sales, and retailer partners to accelerate growth and strengthen amika’s positioning across all channels.
This leader will serve as the critical link between Global Brand & Innovation strategies and U.S. trade execution—ensuring that promotions, events, merchandising, and customer engagement programs are both brand-right and commercially impactful. With a strong command of category insights and customer needs, the Director will guide strategic decision-making and influence cross-functional priorities to maximize impact at retail.
Responsibilities

- Set clear priorities, allocate resources effectively, and ensure execution excellence across trade marketing programs.
- Partner with Sales and Marketing leadership to align team and channels goals with overall business objectives.
- Own the Global Trade Marketing budget, overseeing investments in sampling, promotions, visual merchandising, co-op media, and events.
- Provide strategic guidance to ensure forecasts and plans align with brand priorities, financial objectives, and customer opportunities.
- Evaluate ROI across programs and reallocate resources to maximize impact and efficiency.
- Define and oversee the annual trade marketing strategy, ensuring alignment with brand campaigns and retailer objectives.
- Direct the adaptation of global marketing campaigns into retailer-specific executions across in-store, digital, social, and experiential channels.
- Guide the team in delivering best-in-class trade programs, including sampling, promotions, customer loyalty initiatives, visual merchandising, and seasonal activations.
- Champion an integrated, omni-channel approach to maximize awareness, conversion, and loyalty.
- Lead the development of trade insights, using data-driven analysis to identify growth opportunities across accounts and channels.
- Oversee reporting and evaluation of key programs against KPIs, leveraging findings to inform future strategies.
- Partner with Global Innovation and Brand teams to ensure U.S. customer needs are incorporated into product development and go-to-market plans.
- Serve as the trade marketing lead in senior-level retailer meetings (e.g., Line Reviews, Joint Business Planning), presenting strategies and results with executive presence.
- Act as the strategic bridge between Sales, Brand, Field, and Global Marketing teams to ensure trade programs are aligned and synergistic.
- Provide leadership on in-store execution and digital activations, ensuring consistency with brand positioning and commercial goals.
Requirements
~1 min read- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration, or related field (Master’s degree a plus).
- 8+ years of progressive experience in trade marketing, brand marketing, or channel marketing — preferably in beauty, consumer goods, or retail.
- Proven track record of leading trade marketing strategies that drive measurable sales growth and brand awareness.
- Experience managing and mentoring high-performing teams.
- Strong understanding of retail, distributor, and eCommerce channels, including 360° marketing campaign execution.
- Demonstrated ability to translate global brand strategies into market-relevant trade programs.
- Proficiency in developing and managing budgets, forecasts, and ROI analysis for marketing initiatives.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret sales and category data to inform strategy.
- Exceptional project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills for collaboration with internal teams, retail partners, and external vendors.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word); experience with CRM, PIM, or retail marketing platforms is a plus.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed.
