Optical Device & Module Integration Engineer

Summary

AOI is seeking Optical Device & Module Integration Engineers to support the integration of optical devices, electronics, and packaging into optical modules and transceivers. These engineers will collaborate with R&D, manufacturing, quality, and reliability teams to improve product performance, resolve technical issues, and support new product introduction.

Multiple positions are available for candidates with different technical strengths. Responsibilities will align with each engineer’s experience and the team’s needs.

Responsibilities

• Support device and module integration, including component evaluation, assembly, characterization, and testing.
• Investigate performance, yield, and reliability issues by analyzing data, working with engineering, and manufacturing teams.
• Plan and execute experiments to understand interactions among device characteristics, assembly conditions, and module performance.
• Support new product introduction and transfer to production by documenting technical requirements, test methods, and process improvements.
• Communicate findings, recommend corrective actions, and verify their effectiveness.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in electrical engineering, optics, physics, materials science, mechanical engineering, or a related field.
• Relevant experience in one or more of the following areas: optical devices; optical modules or transceivers; optical alignment and packaging; electrical or optical testing; manufacturing integration; yield improvement; or reliability and failure analysis.
• Practical problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze experimental or manufacturing data.
• Ability to work collaboratively across teams, communicate technical findings, and learn beyond an existing area of expertise.

Preferred Experience

Experience with any of the following is helpful: lasers, photodetectors, modulators, silicon photonics, TOSA/ROSA, optical engines, die attach, wire bonding, fiber coupling, or high-speed testing. Familiarity with tools such as JMP, Python, or LabVIEW.

Location

This position will be on-site based in Sugar Land, Texas.
