Apptronik is a human-centered robotics company developing AI-powered robots to support humanity in every facet of life. Our flagship humanoid robot, Apollo, is built to collaborate thoughtfully with people, starting with critical industries such as manufacturing and logistics, with future applications in healthcare, the home, and beyond.

We operate at the cutting edge of Applied AI, applying our expertise across the full robotics stack to solve some of society's most important problems. You will join a team dedicated to bringing Apollo to market at scale, tackling the complex challenges like safety, commercialization, and mass production to change the world for the better.

We're looking for a detail-oriented ECAD Librarian to own and grow our Altium component library, ensuring every schematic symbol, PCB footprint, and 3D model is accurate, standardized, and manufacturable. In this role, you will partner closely with electrical, mechanical, and manufacturing engineers to keep the library current, enforce design and naming standards, and make sure components meet IPC and DFM best practices before they ever reach a board. You will be the single source of truth for component data across our design organization.

Responsibilities

  • Library Ownership: Create, validate, and maintain schematic symbols, PCB footprints, pad stacks, and 3D models in Altium. Ensure every component is built to supplier datasheet and manufacturer DFM standards with correct parameters, metadata, and revision history.
  • Standards & Compliance: Apply IPC-7351 land pattern standards, JEDEC package standards, and internal design rules to all new and revised components. Confirm footprints and land patterns support design-for-manufacturing (DFM) and design-for-assembly (DFA) requirements before release.
  • Process & Governance: Define and maintain naming conventions, component templates, parameter schemas, lifecycle states, and part-request workflows. Own the part introduction/approval process and library audits to catch and correct errors or duplicates.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work directly with design engineers, supply chain, and contract manufacturers to source accurate technical data, resolve part conflicts, and support board bring-up and DFM/DFA reviews.
  • Tooling & Automation: Maintain integration between the ECAD library and PLM systems. Identify opportunities to script and automate routine library tasks to reduce manual effort and library errors.

Requirements

~2 min read
  • Hands-on expertise with Altium Designer; familiarity with other ECAD tools (Cadence Allegro, Mentor/Xpedition) a plus.
  • Practical knowledge of IPC land-pattern principles, IPC-A-610, and other relevant industry standards, plus solid DFM/DFA judgment.
  • Strong understanding of electronic components, package drawings, manufacturer datasheets, pinouts, land patterns, and PCB fabrication/assembly processes and constraints.
  • Experience with component templates, naming conventions, parameter schemas, revision control, lifecycle states, permissions, and part-request workflows.
  • Experience with PLM systems (Arena, Windchill, or similar) and maintaining the ECAD-to-PLM integration.
  • Scripting experience (Python or Perl) for library automation is a strong plus.
  • Excellent attention to detail and communication skills; comfortable working cross-functionally with electrical, mechanical, and manufacturing teams.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times
  • Vision to read printed materials and a computer screen
  • Hearing and speech to communicate

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field — OR an Associate’s degree in a technical/electronics field plus equivalent experience — OR equivalent practical experience in ECAD library management, drafting, or PCB design in lieu of a degree.
  • 2–5+ years of experience in ECAD library management, component engineering, or PCB design.
