Software Engineer, Marketing & Web
Quick Summary
content modeling, structured data, and the operational side of a live site Leaderboards, data tables, or visualization work (charts, ranking UIs, dense filterable tables) SEO, Core Web Vitals,
Arena is the platform for evaluating how AI models perform in the real world. Founded by researchers from UC Berkeley's SkyLab, we're on a mission to measure and advance the frontier of AI for real-world use, and to build the foundation for everyone to understand, shape, and benefit from it.
Tens of millions of people use Arena each month to evaluate how frontier systems handle the work they actually do. The preferences they share power the most transparent, rigorous, and human-centered evaluations in AI. Leading AI labs, enterprises, and independent researchers rely on our work and open datasets to understand how models behave in real workflows: agentic coding, creative generation, professional productivity, and beyond. We go beyond leaderboards and decompose what human experience reveals about AI, so models advance toward the work people actually do.
We're a team of researchers, academics, builders, and creatives from UC Berkeley, Google, Stanford, and DeepMind. We seek truth, move fast, and value craftsmanship, curiosity, and impact over hierarchy. We're building a company where thoughtful, curious people from all backgrounds can do their best work together, in an office culture that radiates excellence, energy, and focus.
About the Role
~1 min readWe're looking for a frontend-specialized Software Engineer to own Arena's public web surfaces: the blog, marketing pages, and the leaderboard UI that millions of people use to judge how AI models perform.
Own the Arena blog end-to-end
Build and maintain marketing pages (product, features, resources, careers, campaign pages) in the same design system as the product
Improve the public leaderboard frontend: tables, charts, filters, and the UX that makes evaluation data accessible
Keep these surfaces fast, accessible, and indexable
Build CMS models and internal publishing tools so marketing and content can ship without waiting on engineering
6+ years of software engineering, with most of that time on production frontend
A portfolio or shipped work that shows high-craft public pages: marketing sites, content sites, or data-dense product UI
Deep skill in React, TypeScript, Next.js, and CSS — you can implement complex layouts, motion, and responsive design
Enough full-stack skill to work in a product codebase. You can read an API, extend a route, and follow the request lifecycle
Clear communication with designers, marketers, and engineers — you can defend a tradeoff and explain it to a non-engineer
Evidence of shipping and iterating. You can describe a page or surface you owned, what happened after launch, and what you changed
Genuine curiosity about AI evaluation and Arena's mission. You have looked at arena.ai and can say why this public surface matters
