Senior Associate, European Real Assets Debt Capital Markets

Ares is seeking to recruit two Senior Associates within the Debt Capital Market team in London. The Team is responsible for sourcing and executing debt financing for the firm’s European real assets equity strategies.

The successful candidates will have proven CRE debt or Infrastructure / Project Finance experience and be familiar with related (1) secured loan and security finance documentation as well as (2) interest rate hedging and (3) transactional banking matters.

Working with internal and external CRE debt and Infrastructure stakeholders, the role will involve assisting with the origination of new loan facilities for equity strategies, pro-actively providing advice on issues regarding loan performance and identify refinance opportunities.

• →Assist lead originators throughout the new borrowing lifecycle in the delivery of RFPs, lender correspondence, modelling, facility agreement/security documentation negotiation and drawdown process.
• →Maintain and provide advice and recommendations on issues relating to watch-listed and non-performing loans.
• →Conduct forward-looking monitoring and assessment of loan performance, comparing against underwriting standards and business plans.
• →Support lender credit function in providing information relating to any concession/waiver requests from the borrower, including advice and recommendations.
• →Acting liaison between internal and external parties (including legal, valuers, property management companies, lenders, etc.)
• →Monitoring market developments and trends including providing analysis of impact on the bank’s facilities, development and implementation of facility-specific measures in critical facilities.
• →Ad-hoc exposure to projects to improve ongoing loan and hedge reporting or transactional banking opportunities

• At least 6 years of experience in commercial real estate, infrastructure or project financing in Europe.
• Expertise in debt due diligence and transaction management.
• Experience in underwriting and/or managing performing and non-performing loans but also granular property knowledge.
• Familiarity with LMA structured finance.
• Excellent time management, organizational skills, and the ability to work autonomously.
• Strong analytical, written, verbal, and critical thinking skills.
• Proficiency in MS suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) as well as market research services.
• Knowledge of European languages (German, Dutch, Italian, French, or other) is advantageous
