About the Role

Array Behavioral Care is seeking a Part-Time Medical Director of Inpatient Psychiatry to provide clinical leadership, oversight, and direct patient care within a hospital-based behavioral health unit.

This role combines telehealth rounding, admissions, treatment planning with medical leadership responsibilities, including quality oversight, clinical standardization, and interdisciplinary collaboration.

This is an ideal opportunity for a psychiatrist who enjoys leadership impact with a flexible, part-time structure.

 Array will support getting additional state licensure for active, board-certified or board-Eligible Psychiatrists.

 

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the clinical leader for partner inpatient psychiatric service line, ensuring high-quality, evidence-based care

  • Provide guidance and oversight on clinical decision-making, risk management, and patient safety

  • Support standardization of care practices, documentation quality, and adherence to regulatory requirements

  • Partner with hospital and administrative leadership on program development, performance improvement, and operational alignment

  • Participate in peer review, case review, and quality improvement initiatives

  • Conduct psychiatric evaluations, admissions, and follow-up visits

  • Provide daily rounding and medication management for inpatient psychiatric patients

  • Develop and oversee individualized treatment plans

  • Guide disposition planning, including admissions, transfers, and discharges

  • Complete required documentation, including psychiatric evaluations and discharge summaries

  • Lead or participate in treatment team meetings and case conferences

  • Collaborate closely with nursing, social work, case management, and hospital leadership

  • Provide consultation and support to clinical staff on complex or high-risk cases

  • Engage with families and external providers to ensure continuity of care

 

  • Board-certified or board-eligible Psychiatrist   

  • Previous hospital-based Medical Director experience required. Inpatient Psychiatry medical Director experience preferred

  • Unrestricted, independent licensure    

  • Established and updated CAQH and FCVS profiles  

  • Experience providing psychiatric care to all age groups   

  • Treating patients in acute crisis and providing stabilizing treatment in 24/7 settings 

  • Communicating with patients from various backgrounds and providing culturally competent care       

  • Experience working with multiple EMRs at the same time 

  • Advanced technical proficiency, including using hardware (Laptop, camera, monitors), Windows systems, Microsoft software, and EMR software over several years of experience in telehealth

  • 100% remote position 

  • Part-time structure combining Clinical and Administrative time

  • Flexible schedule aligned with hospital needs (e.g. rounding blocks + leadership time)

  • Required to have a private office space in home or elsewhere for confidentiality 

  • You will likely be required to work with Array to obtain additional state licensure and DEA licenses. We will support that process and cover the costs and/or reimburse for out-of-pocket expenses.
