About the Role
~1 min readWe're looking for an experienced Maintenance Supervisor to lead our shift maintenance operation and play a key role in keeping our manufacturing processes running safely, efficiently and reliably. Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, you'll lead a team of three Maintenance Engineers, coordinating daily priorities, supporting technical problem-solving and ensuring planned and reactive maintenance activities are delivered to a high standard.
You'll be a visible leader on shift, acting as the first point of escalation for significant maintenance issues while helping drive equipment reliability, continuous improvement and strong engineering standards across the site. You'll also provide operational support for the Maintenance Manager when required, helping to maintain performance and service continuity.
Responsibilities
~1 min readAs Maintenance Supervisor, you'll lead and support a team of Maintenance Engineers, allocating work, maintaining team standards and ensuring priorities are managed effectively. You'll coordinate maintenance activities across breakdowns, preventative maintenance and work orders, providing technical guidance and hands-on support when required.
You'll drive delivery of the PPM programme, monitor maintenance performance metrics and ensure all activity is accurately recorded through the CMMS. Working closely with Production and Manufacturing Engineering teams, you'll champion root cause analysis, reliability improvements and continuous improvement initiatives. You'll also promote a strong safety culture, ensuring compliance with isolation procedures, permits, risk assessments and safe systems of work while delivering effective shift handovers and operational leadership.
You'll be a qualified engineer with a recognised Level 3 NVQ or equivalent engineering qualification and a strong electrical and/or mechanical maintenance background. You'll have experience working within a manufacturing or production environment and be confident fault-finding, prioritising workloads and making decisions in a fast-paced operational setting.
Strong leadership and communication skills are essential, along with a good understanding of preventative maintenance, equipment reliability and engineering health and safety requirements. Experience using a CMMS and structured problem-solving techniques such as RCA, 5 Why, PPS or 8D would be advantageous, while previous supervisory or team leader experience will help you succeed in this role.
