We're looking for a Director of Advocacy to serve as Ascentria's leading voice in public policy, government relations, and legislative advocacy. This is an opportunity to influence decisions that impact thousands of individuals and families across New England while advancing the mission of one of the region's largest nonprofit human services organizations.

What You'll Do
As our Director of Advocacy, you'll partner with executive leadership to shape Ascentria's legislative and public policy agenda while building relationships with lawmakers, regulators, and advocacy partners throughout New England and beyond.
You'll:
- Develop and lead Ascentria's advocacy and public policy strategy.
- Build strong relationships with local, state, and federal legislators, regulatory agencies, and community partners.
- Monitor legislation and regulatory changes impacting healthcare, senior care, refugee services, human services, and nonprofit organizations.
- Represent Ascentria before legislative committees, coalitions, conferences, and public forums.
- Draft policy briefs, testimony, comment letters, talking points, and executive communications.
- Collaborate with program leaders to identify advocacy priorities and advance meaningful legislative solutions.
- Partner with Marketing & Communications to elevate Ascentria's voice and public presence.
- Coordinate lobbying partners and external advocacy organizations to maximize organizational impact.
- Advise executive leadership on emerging legislative and policy issues affecting the organization.
Who You Are
You're someone who understands that advocacy is about relationships, collaboration, and creating lasting change.
You bring:
- Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
- Five or more years of experience in government relations, advocacy, legislative affairs, public policy, or regulatory affairs.
- Experience working with legislators, government agencies, or nonprofit organizations.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
- Exceptional public speaking and presentation abilities.
- Strong political acumen and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to influence without direct authority.
- Passion for advancing equitable policies that strengthen communities.
