From powering AskChemille and enterprise knowledge discovery to enabling customer experience agents and next-generation autonomous workflows, this role sits at the center of Celanese's AI strategy. You'll work with modern AI technologies, enterprise-scale data platforms, and cross-functional business teams to deliver solutions that create measurable impact across the company.

At Celanese, we are transforming how employees, customers, and business processes interact with information through AI-powered digital experiences. The AI Engineer will play a key role in designing, building, and scaling enterprise AI solutions that drive productivity, accelerate decision-making, enhance customer experience, and enable intelligent automation across the company.

This role combines software engineering, Generative AI, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), agentic AI, enterprise integration, and AI operations (LLMOps) to deliver production-ready AI products and platforms. The AI Engineer will contribute to strategic digital programs including AskChemille, customer experience transformation initiatives, enterprise knowledge systems, AI-powered productivity solutions, and next-generation agentic workflows.

The successful candidate will work alongside Digital Technologies, business stakeholders, data teams, cybersecurity, and enterprise architecture to deliver secure, scalable, and trusted AI capabilities that create measurable business value across the Celanese enterprise.

Responsibilities

→Design, build, test, deploy, and support enterprise AI applications, copilots, intelligent assistants, agents, APIs, and automation solutions.
→Develop AI capabilities supporting strategic Celanese initiatives such as AskChemille, customer and employee self-service experiences, knowledge discovery platforms, and business process automation.
→Translate business opportunities into AI architectures, solution designs, data-grounding approaches, agent workflows, and operational controls.
→Engineer RAG solutions leveraging enterprise content, SharePoint, technical documentation, structured data, business knowledge, and data platform assets.
→Build reusable AI services, prompt frameworks, agent templates, orchestration components, connectors, and evaluation frameworks that accelerate solution delivery across multiple business domains.
→Design and develop autonomous and human-in-the-loop agent workflows capable of planning, reasoning, tool utilization, API integration, task execution, and exception handling.
→Implement enterprise-grade controls including guardrails, approvals, role-based access controls, auditability, security controls, monitoring, and responsible AI practices.
→Establish evaluation and observability capabilities to measure groundedness, relevance, accuracy, latency, cost, adoption, and end-user satisfaction.
→Apply software engineering and LLMOps best practices, including source control, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, version management, monitoring, and release governance.
→Integrate AI solutions with Microsoft Copilot, Copilot Studio, Azure AI, Azure OpenAI, Azure AI Foundry, Power Platform, Teams, SharePoint, Snowflake, SAP, Salesforce, Cognite, and other enterprise platforms.
→Partner with Data Scientists, Data Engineers, Product Owners, and business leaders to scale AI solutions from concept to enterprise adoption.
→Contribute to Celanese's enterprise AI strategy by establishing reusable reference architectures, engineering standards, and common AI platform capabilities.

Requirements

Master's degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Software Engineering, Data Science, or proven experience.
Hands-on experience with agentic AI, autonomous agents, multi-agent systems, or human-in-the-loop workflows.
Experience with Azure OpenAI, Azure AI Foundry, Azure AI Search, Microsoft Copilot Studio, Semantic Kernel, LangChain, or similar technologies.
Experience integrating AI solutions with SharePoint, Teams, Power Platform, Snowflake, Cognite, SAP, Salesforce, or other enterprise platforms.
Experience supporting digital transformation programs in manufacturing, chemicals, supply chain, customer experience, commercial operations, or industrial environments.
Experience contributing to enterprise AI platforms, AI Centers of Excellence, or large-scale AI adoption initiatives.
