As a Field Service Technician at ASM, you will play a critical role in supporting our customers by installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing advanced semiconductor capital equipment. You will serve as a technical expert in the field, delivering exceptional customer service while ensuring equipment performance, reliability, and safety. This position offers the opportunity to work with cutting-edge semiconductor technology, collaborate with global teams, and support customers across domestic and international locations.

This position may be filled on either a day shift or night shift schedule based on business needs. Day shift operates Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Night shift positions operate Monday through Friday from 6:00 PM to 2:00 AM and are dedicated to supporting customer operations during overnight production hours.

Responsibilities

  • Perform installation, qualification, preventive maintenance, and repair activities on complex semiconductor capital equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve electrical, electronic, mechanical, and software-related equipment issues in customer manufacturing environments.
  • Provide timely and professional technical support to customers while maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction.
  • Interpret and utilize electrical and electro-mechanical schematics, drawings, and technical documentation to diagnose equipment issues.
  • Support equipment upgrades, modifications, and process improvement initiatives.
  • Document service activities, maintenance actions, and technical findings accurately and thoroughly.
  • Collaborate with engineering, technical support, and customer teams to resolve complex technical issues and improve equipment performance.
  • Adhere to all safety procedures and maintain a safety-first mindset while working within semiconductor manufacturing facilities.
  • Work either a day shift schedule (Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM) or a night shift schedule (Monday through Friday, 6:00 PM to 2:00 AM), depending on position assignment.
  • Travel domestically and internationally (25%-75%) to support customer installations, upgrades, and service requirements.
  • Associate degree in Electronics, Electro-Mechanical Technology, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent military technical training.
  • 5+ years of field service, customer support, semiconductor manufacturing, or related experience supporting complex capital equipment.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with microprocessor-controlled electro-mechanical systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical, electronic, and electro-mechanical schematics and drawings.
  • Experience performing preventive maintenance, installations, repairs, and system diagnostics.
  • Working knowledge of oscilloscopes, digital voltmeters (DVMs), and other diagnostic tools.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision and thrive in a team environment.
  • Customer-focused mindset with a positive, professional attitude.
  • Experience supporting semiconductor capital equipment in wafer fabrication environments.
  • Knowledge of vacuum systems, closed-loop gas control systems, and electro-pneumatic controls.
  • Experience with RF plasma technologies.
  • Familiarity with robotics, motion control systems, and microprocessor-based controllers.
  • Understanding of software fundamentals and equipment control systems.
  • Experience handling or working around toxic and/or flammable gases and chemicals in semiconductor manufacturing environments.
  • Knowledge of structured problem-solving methodologies and root cause analysis techniques.
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong customer relationships and deliver exceptional service in demanding production environments.
