ASRC Federal Advanced Research LLC (AFAR) is seeking an experienced Database Administrator to join our Second-Level Engineering (SLE) Compliance and Automation Team that supports the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in Oklahoma City, OK. This is a full-time on-site position at the Mike Monroney Aeronautical Center (MMAC).
The SLE Compliance and Automation Team provides a shared engineering and information technology support service for SLE organizations within the Operational Support Directorate. The team contributes to this mission through executing tasks in the areas of automation management of National Airspace System (NAS) engineering and operational processes for documentation, safety risk analysis, systems security, NAS information and data sciences support projects.
Citizenship Requirement
All candidates must have the following to pass the Federal Background Investigation and obtain the FAA Public Trust security clearance.
Be a US Citizen.
Have resided in the US for three (3) consecutive years.
RealID Driver’s License/ID or current US Passport.
Relocation Requirement
Candidate must reside or be willing to relocate within a commutable distance to Oklahoma City, OK.
Education & Experience Requirement
All non-US Degrees must have a US Equivalency Certificate provided by the candidate.
Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or Management Information Systems, or a Bachelor’s degree in another technical discipline may be substituted depending on other qualifications, and length and type of specialized experience.
Six (6) to Nine (9) years of related work experience. Other levels may be accepted for the right candidate.
Experience with NAS facilities, systems, and equipment is highly desirable.
Required Skills
Proficiency in programming skills using software applications and tools with in-depth knowledge of and experience with Oracle, PostgreSQL, or equivalent Database products.
Experience in:
Database Development & Administration:
Oracle PL/SQL development.
Installation and configuration of Oracle database/middleware
Oracle database config and monitoring.
Oracle database administration and development experience.
Security & Access Management
Managing users, groups, access controls, security policies and system logs.
Configuration of ports and firewalls.
System Configuration & Storage Management
Configuration of file systems, partitions, and general storage.
Backup and resource management.
Ability to:
Work independently, as well as a team.
Research and problem solve; willingness to learn/try new things
Communicate effectively through verbal and written communication; including developing technical documentation.
Preferred Skills
Information Security & Compliance:
Information Systems Security / CIS practices
Monitoring system performance, security posture & vulnerability
Operating Systems & System Administration
Linux shell scripting (Bash, Perl, Python, etc.)
Patching/Upgrading of OS
Cloud-Native, Architecture & Emerging Technologies:
AI Frameworks and knowledge
Microservices
Containerization
Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA)
DITA / Open Standard Document concepts
Virtualization: VM Ware Virtualization Knowledge
Essential Daily Job Duties
Assignments may include but are not limited to identifying user needs to create and administer databases; ensuring that databases operate efficiently and without error; make and test modifications to database structures when needed; maintain databases and update permissions; merging old databases into new ones; backup and restore data to prevent data loss; and ensure that organizational data is secure.
Performs multiple, varied, and complex assignments under limited direction.
Applies experience and advanced technical knowledge applicable to accomplish assignments and to develop plans and techniques to improve programs.
Understands how his/her technical area interacts with or is affected by other disciplines and considers the objectives of the external organizations when developing, integrating, and implementing solutions to diverse, complex problems.
Work is reviewed periodically, typically at major milestones and at completion, for technical compliance and alignment with the requirements of the project or other work activity.
Work activities typically support and may be vital to the success of projects or activities of one or more organizational units. In some areas, the work may affect the safety and security of customers.
