Associa is seeking an experienced and proactive Public Relations Manager to support its Public Relations & Reputation team. This hands-on, mid-career role will assist the Director of Public Relations & Reputation while collaborating with the Online Reputation Manager. Responsibilities include executing media relations, public relations, media monitoring, social media, and reputation initiatives across Associa and its brands. The ideal candidate will excel at identifying compelling stories, strong social media, developing targeted media outreach, and transforming media intelligence into actionable PR opportunities.
- Write press releases using AP style writing guidelines.
- Develop and execute proactive media relations strategies that increase Associa's visibility and strengthen its reputation.
- Research journalists, editors, producers, publications, podcasts and other relevant media contacts.
- Identify timely media opportunities.
- Track pitches, follow-ups, media conversations and resulting coverage.
- Manage and optimize media searches, monitoring topics, alerts and dashboards.
- Monitor daily news coverage involving Associa, its brands, executives, competitors and relevant industry issues.
- Identify potentially negative or inaccurate coverage requiring internal awareness or escalation.
- Conduct journalist and publication research through media platform.
- Build highly targeted media lists for individual campaigns, announcements and executive outreach.
- Analyze media coverage for trends, sentiment, share of voice and recurring themes.
- Produce recurring media monitoring and PR performance reports for leadership.
- Provide actionable insights from Meltwater data rather than simply reporting coverage.
- Use media intelligence to identify proactive pitching opportunities.
- Monitor competitors and industry developments to identify opportunities for Associa thought leadership.
- Support rapid-response monitoring during emerging issues or reputational events.
- Draft, edit and distribute press releases, media alerts, pitches, executive messaging, talking points, and other PR materials.
- Identify newsworthy stories across Associa's branches, executives, employees, clients and community initiatives.
- Work with internal/external teams to gather facts, statistics, quotes and supporting materials.
- Coordinate press release distribution and targeted media outreach.
- Maintain a PR calendar and track upcoming announcements, events, campaigns and media opportunities.
- Support the development and execution of social media communications strategies for executive team that align with Associa's broader PR and reputation objectives.
- Develop or support social media content related to executive visibility, community initiatives, events and other PR opportunities, as directed.
- Monitor social media conversations and identify emerging trends, issues and opportunities relevant to Associa.
- Support executive and organizational social media initiatives as needed.
- Coordinate with Marketing and other internal teams to ensure messaging is aligned across PR, social media and other communications channels.
- Monitor and report on social media activity and engagement related to significant PR initiatives and reputational matters.
- Support the Director of Public Relations & Reputation in monitoring issues that may affect Associa's reputation.
- Identify emerging narratives and potential reputational risks through media platform, social media and other monitoring channels.
- Assist in developing holding statements, talking points, Q&As and response materials when needed.
- Monitor coverage following significant announcements, incidents or reputational events.
- Monitor social media and online conversations for emerging issues, trends and potential reputational risks.
- Bachelor's degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, Marketing or related field.
- 4-6 years of professional experience in public relations, media relations, corporate communications or journalism.
- Significant hands-on experience using Meltwater for media monitoring, journalist research, media list development and PR reporting.
- Experience in political communications, public affairs, government relations or working with political campaigns, elected officials or government entities.
- Experience supporting executive communications or thought leadership.
- Experience with media analytics and PR measurement
- Demonstrated experience pitching media and securing earned media coverage.
- Excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills.
- Experience developing press releases, media pitches, talking points and executive communications.
