Geophysicist

The position is established to support the Geoscience Engineering Team, a growing team dealing with the various geo-related aspects of subsea cable installation and protection from the early stages of a project, during Tender / FEED, and preparation for execution phase. The role includes undertaking and/or reviewing studies, such as burial assessments, cable routing studies, Site Investigation (SI) planning, jet/trencher/ploughing performance assessment etc., supporting the Project Engineering Team and internal development projects. The Geotechnical Engineer may be asked to follow up a Project offshore, providing his/her expertise.

Engineering

• →Review and/or processing of geophysical datasets and reports;
• →Define / review geophysical site investigation scope (offshore and inshore marine geophysical survey) and provide live support during execution works, based on project’s scope and requirements;
• →Manage process and integrate geospatial datasets / maintain geodatabases;
• →Create geo-maps and spatial visualizations;
• →Perform / review /update route engineering studies;
• →Perform QA/QC of tasks/analyses carried out by 3rd parties/subcontractors;
• →Automate routine tasks;
• →Interface with the Team’s Geotechnical Engineers to ensure integrated studies, the Project Teams, and more specifically with the Project Offshore Managers, Project Managers, Project Engineers and/or Offshore/field engineers to present the findings of the analyses and identify critical steps;

Inter-department & External Communication

• →Reports to Geoscience Engineering Manager;
• →Cooperates with other Teams (Proposals’ Teams, Project/Offshore Teams, Project Management and Planning Teams, Production Planning Teams etc.);
• →Communicates with client (teleconferences/face to face meetings);
• →Communicates with company subcontractors;

Onboard Attendance

• →Onboard attendance for project preparation, follow up or SI supervision might be needed, but is expected to be limited;

• Degree in Geology, Geophysics, Earth Sciences or related field. Master’s degree preferred;
• 3-5 years related experience in marine projects or equivalent;
• Experience in geophysical data acquisition and processing;
• Proficiency in GIS software and geophysical survey/modeling tools;
• Knowledge of geophysical data acquisition and processing software would be considered a plus;
• Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office;
• Experience with Python for GIS automation or other is considered a plus;
• Clear and effective oral and written communication skills in English language is required;
