The hiring rate for this role is $77,791- $ 97,239 annually.
Salary to be commensurate with experience.

- →Lead, schedule, and evaluate a team of skilled technicians in the performance of their daily duties
- →Provide coaching, training, and performance feedback to support staff development
- →Prioritize and assign work orders, projects, and emergency responses
- →Oversee daily maintenance and repair activities for City facilities
- →Ensure completion of preventive maintenance programs and compliance with regulatory requirements
- →Troubleshoot complex building system issues and provide technical guidance to staff
- →Coordinate contractor work, ensuring quality control and adherence to specifications
- →Assist in planning and executing small to medium-scale facility improvement projects
- →Review plans, specifications, and cost estimates; provide input on scope, materials, and scheduling
- →Monitor project progress, budgets, and timelines
- →Maintain accurate records of work orders, asset data, inspections, and maintenance activities
- →Support budget development by providing input on equipment, and material needs
- →Ensure compliance with building codes, safety regulations, and City policies
- →Prepare reports, documentation, and recommendations for management
- →Serve as the primary point of contact for facilities technician maintenance requests from City departments
- →Preforms additional duties as assigned

The Facilities Operations Supervisor oversees a team of skilled technicians and directs daily maintenance operations to ensure City of Aurora facilities remain safe, reliable, and well maintained. The role provides technical guidance, assigns and prioritizes work, and supports preventive maintenance and facility improvement initiatives. It serves as a key liaison for internal departments, contractors, and regulatory partners to ensure timely, high‑quality service delivery. Through strong leadership and operational oversight, the Facilities Operations Supervisor safeguards City assets and supports an efficient, customer‑focused Facilities Operations division.
Requirements

- Experience in municipal, institutional, or commercial facilities
- High School Diploma or GED
- Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in property or facilities maintenance
- One (1) year of experience in a supervisory role
- Proficiency with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS)
- Basic operation of building systems
- Safety practices and regulations
- Strong interpersonal, analytical, and organizational skills
- Strong management skills, including scheduling, budgeting, and documentation
- Skill in the use of Windows-based software such as Word, Excel, etc
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, all levels of management including executive staff, citizens, and elected officials
- Handle sensitive situations with tact and diplomacy
- Communicate effectively both orally and in writing
- Plan and schedule work unit operations
- Solve problems, negotiate, and handle stressful situations
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and respond effectively to emergencies
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical manuals, and specifications
- Colorado Driver's License
When a local announcement of emergency or disaster is declared by the city, all City of Aurora employees may be required to work as essential personnel.
- Moderate physical work lifting and/or moving 50 pounds (with or without assistance) at a time.
- Frequent lifting and carrying of objects weighing up to 50 pounds
- Considerable walking and standing and sitting.
- May perform activities requiring a full range of body movement including bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, climbing, and crawling.
- Considerable eye, hand, and foot coordination is required to operate tools, equipment, and vehicles to drive between facilities.
- Clear vision to read manuals, reports, and various written materials.
- Speech and hearing to communicate technical information and instructions and provide/receive citizen and employee information
- Works both in and outdoors with exposure to all types of weather conditions
- Regular exposure to dust, noise and fumes associated with equipment repair
- Standard business and professional equipment and tools including personal computers and related software.

- This position may require the incumbent to occasionally use personal equipment (e.g. vehicle, cell phone, tools, etc.) in the course of their employment.
The city of Aurora will implement furlough days (unpaid days off) for most employees in 2026. The scheduled furlough dates are January 16, April 10, July 2, and December 24.
