About This Position

 

Under general direction, supervises and coordinates the daily activities of substation electricians involved in construction, repair, installation,
testing, calibration, maintenance, or removal of electric utility high and low voltage substation equipment and systems.

Driving Requirement:
Valid Texas Class A Commercial Driver License or ability to acquire license and/or endorsement within 120 days of employment. External New Hires must meet the City of Austin's Driver Record Evaluation (DRE) requisite.

To be considered for a driving position, applicants cannot have more than three moving violations or a total of six Driver Record Evaluation points within a period of thirty-six (36) months.

Job offer may be contingent on passing a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening test and thereafter, comply with Department of Transportation, Federal Regulations and the Alcohol and Controlled Substance
Testing rules as outlined by the City of Austin Drug and Alcohol Policy for Drivers of Commercial Motor Vehicles. The position requires adherence to all DOT regulations and City of Austin Personnel Policies.

Pay Range: Commensurate depending on qualifications and experience.
 

Location/Hours: 2526 Kramer Lane, Austin, TX
Monday – Thursday 5:45 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. Work hours may include after hours, holidays, and weekends. Shifts may change according to departmental needs.
 

WORK SCHEDULE:
This position is designated as Essential Personnel with the City of Austin and may be required to work during emergencies, severe weather, or other operational needs, including when not regularly scheduled.

  • Work hours may include evenings, weekends, holidays, on-call assignments, call back, and additional hours outside the regular schedule.

  • Shifts may change based on departmental or business needs.

  • This position is eligible for on-call and call back pay, as applicable.

  • Employees are required to follow all applicable City policies, procedures, and work rules related to on-call and call back assignments.
