Role Title & Scope: Airport Facility Coordinator for the City of Austin Department of Aviation (Austin-Bergstrom International Airport), providing shift coordination, operational support, and functional oversight for terminal facility maintenance and housekeeping.

Core Function: Coordinates daily operations, assigns work, and leads frontline staff responsible for janitorial care, waste management, heavy equipment operations, and terminal upkeep across 24/7 shifts.

Supervisory Support: Acts as the primary lead on duty in the absence of the Facility Service Supervisor, assisting with administrative logs, work order assignments, timesheet reviews, and leave approvals.

Emergency & Incident Response: Coordinates immediate operational responses, isolations, and evacuations during terminal security breaches, severe weather events, fire alarms, and baggage handling system failures.

Safety & Regulatory Compliance: Enforces City of Austin safety protocols, OSHA standards, and TSA security mandates across all facility service operations.

Inventory & Resource Management: Monitors, orders, and maintains inventories for facility cleaning supplies, tools, and PPE, while ensuring all specialized equipment and vehicles are inspected and serviced.

Inter-Departmental Liaison: Serves as the operational point of contact for airlines, concessionaires, federal agencies (TSA/CBP), and airport tenants regarding immediate facility service needs.

Standard Operating Procedures: Participates in drafting, reviewing, and updating standard operating procedures (SOPs) to optimize terminal cleanliness, equipment handling, and shift transitions.

Quality Assurance: Performs continuous floor inspections throughout the terminal and airport campus to ensure strict sanitation standards

Requirements
~1 min readThis position must travel between various locations as part of the regular job duties and the individual will be required to drive a city vehicle.
Position will also be required to drive on the AOA.
This position requires a Valid Texas Class C Driver License or the ability to acquire one by your hire date.
External New Hires must meet the City of Austin’s Driver Record Evaluation (DRE) requisite.
To be considered for a driving position, applicants cannot have more than three moving violations or a total of six Driver Record Evaluation points within a period of thirty-six (36) months.
Job Offer is contingent on having a driving record that meets the City’s Driver Record Evaluation Standards.
This position is categorized as essential personnel. Essential personnel are required to come to work during emergencies or bad weather at the airport if they are scheduled to work and, in some cases, when they are not scheduled.

Hours may change according to departmental needs; work hours may include after hours, holidays, and weekend work.
Shift work includes shift differential incentives for evening and night shifts and weekends
