Under general supervision, this position assists with performing various moderately complex engineering and technical tasks in support of the Airport Baggage Handling System (BHS) and supporting systems.
Responsibilities

- →Provides semi-skilled technical support for 24/7 real-time control system integrity and ensures the highest operational reliability and system availability. Consults with senior-level technicians for corrective action solutions.
- →Assists with the daily operation and maintenance of the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) System.
- →Assists senior-level technicians with the daily maintenance of the Airport BHS to accomplish the best system performance; communicates with dispatchers, engineers, and field crews; and troubleshoots, analyzes, and resolves problems as required.
- →Assists with field inspections of the Airport BHS.
- →Provides data reporting and updates on routine user service request activity.
- →Administers and monitors data security profiles in accordance with security policies and procedures; reports observations to senior level technicians.
- →Reviews technical and business documentation, including audit and training manuals.
- →Updates, maintains, and documents security controls.
- →Monitors stock and parts inventories and documentation for all systems; provides inventory management updates to senior level technicians.
- →Assists with configuring and programming process control applications (Human Machine Interfaces), Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), and Remote Terminal Unit (RTU) functions.
Must possess required knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed.
- →Knowledge of PLC ladder logic programming.
- →Knowledge of Siemens, GE Fanuc, or Allen Bradley integrated architecture.
- →Skill in using computers and related software.
- →Skill in handling multiple tasks and prioritizing.
- →Ability to work with Unix (TRU64 Unix preferred) and Windows-based systems.
- →Ability to understand database design and application development.
- →Ability to perform systems testing of specification requirements.
- →Ability to understand and use standard application development design, report, and project management tools.
- →Ability to effectively participate in multiple projects or project capacities.
- →Ability to perform objective analyses and re-engineering of business processes to maximize quality service and cost-effectiveness.
- →Ability to work after-hours on-call support to meet the response requirements for restoring mission critical systems.
Position may require on-call or call back responsibilities.
Requirements
~1 min read- Graduation with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in a field related to the installation and maintenance of process control systems, electronic security systems, network communications, or computer and peripheral equipment.
- Experience may substitute for education up to four (4) years.
- Experience with PLC ladder logic programming.
- Experience working with Siemens, Ge Fanuc, or Allen Bradley integrated architecture.
This position requires a Valid State of Texas Class “C” Driver License or the ability to acquire one by your hire date. External New Hires must meet the City of Austin's Driver Record Evaluation (DRE) requisite. To be considered for a driving position, applicants cannot have more than three moving violations or a total of six Driver Record Evaluation points within a period of thirty-six (36) months.
This position must travel between various locations as part of the regular job duties, and the individual will be required to drive a city vehicle. Position will also be required to drive on the AOA. Successful candidate must be in possession of a Texas driver's license as authorized by the Texas Transportation Code. A driving record verification will be completed.
- Valid State of Texas Class “C” Driver License.
Sunday-Wednesday 5:00 AM-4:00 PM
Wednesday-Saturday 5:00 AM-4:00 PM
Work hours may include after-hours, holidays, and weekend work.
This position is categorized as essential personnel. Essential personnel are required to come to work during emergencies or bad weather at the airport if they are scheduled to work and, in some cases, when they are not scheduled.
Overtime may be required with or without notice.
