Competitive compensation for onsite WA applicants is $75,000-$100,000 All applicants are welcome to apply.

What can I expect in this role?

The Manufacturing Engineer will support AST by providing manufacturing technical support that includes manufacturing engineering, plant engineering, and industrial engineering. The primary responsibility of this position is to own improvements in manufacturing delivery and cost performance. This position will be the technical owner of manufacturing processes. This may include engineering operations, project management, and any transactional processes. The role will perform a variety of complex tasks and assist in developing and executing a technical manufacturing strategy.

  • Coordinate manufacturing technical support activities to continuously upgrade and improve manufacturing technologies, improve equipment uptime, product yield, and quality of production as well as any new processes, technologies, and longer-term manufacturing strategies.
  • Direct contact with contractors and service providers for execution of projects.
  • Participate in the design review process and provide technical input to Design Engineers.
  • Coordinate design for manufacturing (DFM) and design for assembly (DFA) activities on new products prior to launch.
  • Design jigs and assembly tools.
  • Work closely with design and production leaders to improve manufacturing efficiencies, manufacturing effectiveness, and reduce production costs.
  • Create and maintain routings as well as other manufacturing data requirements.
  • Create standard work and work instructions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Expected travel: <5%.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering required.
  • 1-3 years’ experience working as an engineer specifically in industrial machine design and testing.
  • Ability to use 3-D solid modeling software, such as Inventor and AutoCAD for designing and modeling manufacturing processes and products.
  • Familiar with reviewing drawings and GD&T.
  • Familiar with CNC processes and requirements.
  • Proficient with computer software such as MS Office, ERP Systems, AutoCAD, Solid Modeling (e.g., Inventor, Solid Works, ProE), FEA, and motion analysis/simulations.
  • Familiar with various manufacturing processes, such as machining, sheet metal fabrication, assembly, material processing; annealing/stress relieving, electropolish, passivation, and plastics.
  • Skilled in identifying and implementing improvements to manufacturing processes, such as lean manufacturing techniques and continuous improvement initiatives to drive change.
  • Ability to plan and organize manufacturing projects and track progress.
  • Ability to embrace a fast-paced culture.
  • Ability to be self-driven, take initiative, and work autonomously to achieve KPI’s.
  • Lead with a results-driven mindset, reinforcing accountability to achieve and exceed metrics.
Eligibility Requirements:
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction.
  • Must be willing to take and successfully pass a drug test. This is a safety sensitive position, and does require pre-employment drug testing, including testing for marijuana and THC.
  • Must be willing to submit and successfully pass a background check.
