Manager, Technical Program Management

As our Manager, Technical Program Management for Global Analytics & Insights (GAI), you will lead program delivery across enterprise data products, scoring models, and analytics engineering platform initiatives in a Snowflake, dbt, and Terraform environment. You will supervise a team of individual contributors, translating business objectives into executable milestones while managing cross-team data contracts and activation into downstream operational and reporting platforms. This role blends people leadership, hands-on technical understanding, and agile delivery to drive operational velocity across Avalara. This is a remote position in the United States.

• →Supervise and mentor a team of individual contributors (program coordinators, analysts, technical specialists), setting priorities and managing performance.
• →Lead technical delivery across GAI programs, including corporate scoring models, data activation pipelines, and platform engineering workstreams.
• →Define technical requirements, milestones, acceptance criteria, and sprint backlogs alongside data engineers and data scientists.
• →Enforce data contracts and dependency management between upstream producers (Data Science, Marts) and downstream operational, CRM, and reporting platforms.
• →Partner with engineering leads on technical designs, dimensional modeling, and infrastructure standards (Terraform, RBAC, GitLab code reviews).
• →Own agile operating standards, Jira workflows, Confluence documentation, and technical debt tracking to shorten delivery cycles.
• →Implement AI-assisted automations (e.g., Claude-based skills) and tooling to streamline team workflows and program operations.

• 3+ years of experience in technical program management, data engineering, or technical delivery.
• Experience supervising, mentoring, or leading technical contributors.
• Hands-on knowledge of modern data tools, including Snowflake, dbt, SQL, and Git.
• Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code (Terraform), RBAC concepts, and dimensional data modeling.
• Proven experience managing cross-functional data contracts and integrations with enterprise operational and reporting platforms.
• Proficiency in Agile/Scrum delivery, Jira project administration, and Confluence documentation.
• Experience applying AI tools (e.g., Claude) to improve operational efficiency and workflow automation.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent practical experience.
