We are seeking a highly capable GIS Team Lead / Senior GIS Engineer to lead the design, administration, support, and enhancement of our ESRI GIS platform across a multi-server environment. The role is responsible for managing the overall GIS technical landscape, ensuring system availability, performance, security, integration, and delivery of GIS services to business and operational stakeholders.
The successful candidate will provide both technical leadership and hands-on engineering support for the organization’s GIS applications, servers, databases, web services, and integrations with enterprise platforms. This role also includes coordination with internal teams, vendors, and project stakeholders to ensure GIS solutions are aligned with operational and project requirements.
Responsibilities
~1 min read- Lead the GIS team in the implementation, operation, and support of enterprise GIS solutions.
- Provide technical guidance to GIS engineers, analysts, developers, and support staff.
- Review solution designs, configurations, and change requests related to GIS systems.
- Act as the main technical focal point for GIS-related project activities.
- Administer and maintain ESRI ArcGIS Enterprise environment, including:
- ArcGIS Server
- Portal for ArcGIS
- ArcGIS Web Adaptor
- ArcGIS Data Store
- ArcGIS Pro
- ArcGIS Desktop, where applicable
- Manage GIS deployments across multiple servers in development, test, staging, and production environments.
- Monitor server health, availability, performance, and storage utilization.
- Install, configure, patch, upgrade, and troubleshoot ESRI software components.
- Ensure system resilience, backup, recovery, and business continuity readiness.
- Support GIS infrastructure hosted on physical or virtual servers.
- Coordinate with IT teams for server provisioning, network configuration, firewall rules, DNS, certificates, and access management.
- Manage high availability, load balancing, and multi-machine GIS deployments where applicable.
- Optimize system performance and reliability across distributed GIS services.
- Manage enterprise geodatabases and GIS-related databases.
- Support database platforms such as SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or Oracle, depending on project environment.
- Ensure GIS data integrity, consistency, versioning, backup, and synchronization.
- Support integration between ESRI GIS systems and enterprise platforms such as:
- SCADA
- Asset Management systems
- APIs and third-party applications
- Publish and maintain map services, feature services, geoprocessing services, and web applications.
- Support web GIS solutions, dashboards, and custom GIS interfaces.
- Troubleshoot application issues, service failures, and integration problems.
- Implement GIS security best practices, including user roles, permissions, authentication, and secure publishing.
- Support integration with enterprise identity management solutions such as Active Directory or SSO. .
Requirements
~1 min read- Bachelor’s degree in GIS, Geomatics, Geography, Computer Science, Engineering, IT, or related field.
- Minimum 7–10 years of GIS experience for Team Lead level
- Strong hands-on experience with ESRI ArcGIS Enterprise in a multi-server environment.
- Proven experience in GIS system administration, configuration, and troubleshooting.
- Experience with enterprise geodatabases and spatial data management.
- Good understanding of Windows Server administration and enterprise infrastructure concepts.
- Experience with IIS, Web Adaptors, SSL certificates, and web-based GIS publishing.
- Strong knowledge of GIS service deployment, performance tuning, and monitoring.
- Experience in system integration and support of enterprise applications.
- Strong documentation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- ESRI technical certifications are highly preferred.
- Experience with ArcGIS Monitor, ArcGIS Image Server, or ArcGIS GeoEvent Server is an advantage.
- Experience with scripting or automation using JavaScript
- Familiarity with cloud, virtualization, backup, and DR concepts.
- Experience in large-scale government, utility, infrastructure, smart city, or transport projects.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity practices for enterprise application environments.
