Looking to join a passionate team dedicated to developing and manufacturing life-saving biopharmaceuticals? Avid Bioservices is a leading clinical and commercial biologics CDMO focused on creating innovative solutions to meet the needs of our clients and improve patient outcomes.

Your Role:
The Senior Environmental Health & Safety Engineer serves as the primary EHS technical resource for the assigned site and leads the day-to-day design, implementation, and continuous improvement of site EHS programs. The role partners with site leadership and functions including Manufacturing, Facilities, Engineering, Quality, and People to identify and control risk, maintain regulatory readiness, and support reliable operations. This position independently evaluates complex EHS issues, recommends practical solutions, and leads cross-functional actions through completion. The role provides site-level functional leadership and technical guidance without direct people-management responsibility. Material regulatory, legal, policy, and resource decisions are escalated to the appropriate functional leader.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and maintain site EHS programs, procedures, and controls to support compliance with applicable environmental, occupational health, safety, and biosafety requirements.
  • Serve as the primary site EHS technical resource for leaders and employees, translating regulatory and company requirements into practical operating expectations.
  • Lead risk assessments, job hazard analyses, management-of-change EHS reviews, and control strategies for facilities, equipment, processes, materials, and site projects.
  • Plan and lead site inspections, audits, and regulatory-readiness activities; document findings, assign corrective actions, and verify timely and effective closure.
  • Lead investigations of injuries, illnesses, near misses, environmental events, and other EHS concerns using structured root-cause methods and risk-based corrective actions.
  • Maintain required EHS records, permits, plans, reports, and metrics; monitor trends and communicate material risks, obligations, and performance to site leadership.
  • Develop and deliver role-appropriate EHS training and communications that support consistent understanding and application of site requirements.
  • Partner with Manufacturing, Facilities, Engineering, Quality, Security, and emergency-response stakeholders to coordinate preparedness, incident response, and business continuity activities.
  • Provide EHS input for contractors, vendors, capital projects, new processes, and operational changes so risks are identified and addressed before implementation.
  • Mentor and guide employees and program owners on EHS practices, and lead continuous-improvement initiatives that strengthen compliance, risk reduction, and site culture.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental engineering, safety, industrial hygiene, occupational health, engineering, a life-science discipline, or a related field; equivalent relevant education and experience may be considered.
  • 8 or more years of relevant EHS experience, including demonstrated ownership of complex cross-functional programs in a regulated manufacturing, biotechnology, pharmaceutical, or comparable environment.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of occupational safety and environmental compliance requirements applicable to site operations.
  • Experience leading risk assessments, audits or inspections, incident investigations, corrective actions, and EHS training.
  • Ability to analyze technical and regulatory information, make sound recommendations, communicate risk to varied audiences, and maintain clear records.
  • Ability to work on-site and respond to time-sensitive site EHS matters as required by business operations.
