About the Role

Axle Logistics, a top-20 North American freight brokerage, is seeking a Director of Carrier Compliance to lead the strategy, governance, and day-to-day operation of our carrier compliance and risk framework.

The ideal candidate has deep expertise in FMCSA regulatory compliance and fraud/risk detection, and is ready to own a program that directly shapes how Axle manages relationships with motor carriers.

Responsibilities

  • Own and continuously evolve Axle's carrier compliance program, ensuring the framework keeps pace with regulatory change and emerging fraud patterns
  • Lead cross-functional rollout of compliance policy updates to Operations, Sales, and Claims teams
  • Investigate and respond to carrier fraud indicators, including double-brokering, identity theft, and fictitious carrier schemes
  • Manage carrier compliance technology stack (e.g., Highway, MercuryGate) and carrier data field governance
  • Manage a team of carrier compliance analysts and develop work flows for emerging shipment-level alerts
  • Report on carrier risk metrics, fraud trends, and program performance to department and executive leadership

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in carrier compliance, transportation risk management, or a closely related field within freight brokerage, 3PL, or trucking
  • Working knowledge of FMCSA regulations, broker and carrier compliance programs, and motor carrier authority/insurance requirements
  • Experience with relevant technology (e.g., Highway, RMIS, Carrier411, DAT, Bluewire, or similar)
  • Familiarity with double-brokering and cargo fraud detection and mitigation strategies
  • Strong analytical skills with comfort working in data tables and spreadsheets to identify risk patterns
  • Excellent written communication skills; ability to translate policy into clear operational guidance
  • People leadership experience or demonstrated readiness to build and manage a team
  • Bachelor's degree required; JD, relevant certifications (e.g., CTB, CCTB), or advanced degree a plus
