Senior BIM Technician

BakerHicks provides a managed service for a major Defence Organisation, delivering Configuration Management support across CAD, BIM, Surveying, GIS and Tooling disciplines. Operating directly from client sites, our team of approximately 60 specialists supports some of the UK's most secure and technically complex environments.

As our service continues to grow, we're looking for a Senior BIM Technician to join the team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the delivery and coordination of BIM projects, supporting multidisciplinary teams across Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, Civil, Structural and Architectural disciplines. You'll work with cutting-edge digital delivery tools, mentor developing technicians, and help drive quality, efficiency and innovation across the service.

You are an experienced BIM professional with a strong background in multidisciplinary model coordination and digital delivery. Comfortable working in complex, highly regulated environments, you have a passion for producing high-quality BIM models and drawings while supporting and developing others within the team.

You'll have extensive experience using Autodesk software and a strong understanding of BIM standards, information management and Common Data Environments. Most importantly, you'll be collaborative, detail-focused and committed to delivering exceptional outcomes for our clients.

• Produce 3D BIM models, generating 2D/3D layouts & schedules using Autodesk Platforms such as Revit & Autocad
• Provide supervision of coordinated modelling of mechanical, electrical and plumbing services/civil & structural/architectural
• Supervision and management of model content creation in accordance with company BIM standards
• Supervision and management of model federations and clash detection, using Navisworks or Autodesk Forma (ACC)
• Supervision and management of the production of Revit families to ensure the required level of detail/information is applied in accordance with BEP / Scope of service
• Supervision, Review, Interpretation and conversion of Point Cloud data to create BIM models
• Ensure tasks are completed working to the required company/project standards, based around ISO 19650 suite of standards
• Perform model audits, and prepare models for issue to internal/external, suppliers / customers
• Liaise with the BIM Team Lead for task requirements.
• Mentoring of trainees and technicians
• Promote “Right first time” and “Continuous Improvement’ behaviour within team.

• →Production of BIM models and drawings to various levels of detail and information
• →Support upkeep of facility “AS Built/Record” models / drawings.
• →Liaise with customer to confirm requirements.
• →Compliance with company BIM standards and Project BEP
• →Understanding of Department procedures and processes.
• →Application of configuration control processes.
• →Estimating and Task delivery in line with Service Level Indicators and ensuring customer engagement at all stages
• →Delivery to set budgets and timescales
• →Adequate exploration of appropriate and most efficient technical solutions to meet client requirements.
• →Complete site surveys, ensuring redline & asset information is recorded accurately and efficiently.
• →Quality checking of completed drawings and models produced in-house and by contractors for accuracy and compliance to standards.
• →Manage and implementation of project templates to ensure consistency in BIM models across team
• →Identify opportunities and recommendations for increasing workflow efficiencies
• →Attend task and change control meetings.
• →Comply with company Security regulations.
• →Manage own professional development to maintain and develop personal knowledge base, through continuing professional development.
• →Ensure the SLI process is followed and file management adhered to, ensuring task documentation and correspondence is maintained.
• →Monitoring task progress and costs in accordance with estimates.
• →Comply with company Health and Safety and Safe Systems of Work regulations.

• Ideally educated to HNC level or above
• Certification in use of Autodesk suite of software packages eg. Revit, by Autodesk approved trainer.
• A comprehensive knowledge of 3D architectural & building services co-ordination and point-cloud manipulation
• Experience in using various software packages such as: Autodesk Revit MEP, Revit Architecture, CADDuct/FabMEP, Navisworks, ReCap, Pointsense, Leica Cloudworks/Cyclone, Dynamo & Enscape.
• Extensive knowledge of ISO 19650 suite of standards
• Extensive understanding of working in a Common Data Environment (CDE) and uploading and managing models/drawings to Document Management Systems such as Autodesk Forma (ACC)
• Extensive experience of producing BIM Models & families
• Experience of managing and controlling BIM data and related areas.
• Ability to use engineering knowledge and understanding to review and select techniques, procedures and methods to undertake tasks.
• Extensive experience of manipulating Laser Scanned Point cloud data.
• Extensive experience in using Revit MEP on real projects (examples of work required at interview, in native .rvt file format).

Many of the positions within our company are subject to security clearance or security assurance levels.

The successful candidate must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate level of security clearance or assurance level for this role, in line with client and sector requirements.

In some cases, additional nationality or residency criteria may also apply due to specific client or national security obligations.
