We are looking for experienced Chemical Process Engineers to support a major Life Sciences project based in our Manchester office.
 
This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the detailed design of a new pharmaceutical facility focused on API manufacturing, working as part of a multi-disciplinary project team on behalf of our client.
 
You will be involved in process design activities across synthesis, purification and supporting ancillary systems, with responsibilities that may include P&ID development, utility sizing, and safety design such as relief and vent systems. The role will suit engineers with experience in API manufacturing facilities, pharmaceutical process plants, and FEED or detailed design projects.
 
We are open to considering candidates at Engineer, Senior Engineer or Principal Engineer level, provided you have the relevant sector and project experience.
This is an inside IR35 contract opportunity for an initial 6-month period, with the possibility of extension, and will require attendance at our Manchester office 3 days per week.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and/or support specific process engineering activities during detailed design phases.
  • Deliver process engineering work packages in line with project schedules and budget requirements.
  • Produce and review process engineering deliverables including:
    • Basis of Design documentation
    • Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs)
    • Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)
    • Process schedules
    • Process equipment specifications and datasheets
    • Utility demand schedules
    • Process calculations and design reports
  • Support process safety activities including:
    • HAZOP studies
    • Design safety reviews
    • Risk assessments and action close-out
  • Develop technical specifications for process equipment and packages.
  • Support plant layout development and multidisciplinary design reviews.
  • Participate in design reviews and constructability assessments.
  • Degree qualified in Chemical Engineering.
  • Experience delivering process engineering design within the pharmaceutical sector.
  • Previous experience working on API manufacturing facilities and pharmaceutical process plants.
  • Experience supporting FEED and detailed design projects.
  • Understanding of:
    • GMP requirements
    • Pharmaceutical process design
    • Process safety and HAZOP methodologies
    • Equipment specification and vendor management
  • Experience developing and reviewing PFDs and P&IDs.
