Built on a century of experience and conducting business in over 120 countries. Our innovative technologies and services are taking energy forward! Making it safer, cleaner and more efficient for people and the planet.

As a Senior Security Platform Engineer, you will own the engineering, administration, scalability, and continuous improvement of our enterprise security telemetry platform. This role is responsible for designing, building, and operating Google SecOps as a highly available, scalable, and reliable security platform that enables security operations across the organization. This is a platform engineering position—not a Security Analyst, Detection Engineer, Threat Hunter, or Incident Response role. You will work closely with cloud engineering, infrastructure, networking, IAM, application teams, and the SOC to ensure security telemetry is on board, normalized, and delivered with high quality while continuously improving platform performance, reliability, and operational efficiency.

As a Digital Technology Senior Specialist - Cyber Security Engineering, you will also be responsible for:

  • Design, build, administer, and optimize the Google SecOps platform for enterprise-scale environments.
  • Own platform reliability, scalability, availability, and operational health.
  • Manage platform configuration, upgrades, lifecycle management, and new feature adoption.
  • Develop standards and best practices for Google SecOps administration.
  • Continuously improve platform performance and operational maturity.
  • Design and implement scalable ingestion pipelines for security telemetry across cloud, SaaS, network, endpoint, and infrastructure platforms.
  • Onboard new data sources into Google SecOps while ensuring data quality, completeness, and consistency.
  • Develop and maintain parsers, mappings, and UDM normalization to maximize data usability.
  • Validate log integrity, field mappings, timestamps, enrichment, and normalization.
  • Troubleshoot ingestion failures, parser issues, latency, and pipeline bottlenecks.
  • Implement event filtering and routing strategies to improve platform efficiency and optimize licensing costs.
  • Design scalable telemetry architectures supporting enterprise growth.
  • Partner with architecture teams on long-term security platform strategy.
  • Build reusable onboarding frameworks, standards, and automation.
  • Drive infrastructure-as-code and configuration management initiatives where applicable.
  • Support platform resiliency, disaster recovery, and operational readiness.
  • Automate repetitive platform administration and operational tasks using Python, PowerShell, REST APIs, and other scripting languages.
  • Develop CI/CD processes for platform configuration, parser deployment, and operational content management.
  • Create automated validation processes for new data onboardings.
  • Build self-service onboarding workflows for internal engineering teams where appropriate.
  • Develop operational dashboards measuring platform health, ingestion performance, parser quality, pipeline throughput, and platform utilization.
  • Monitor platform capacity, storage utilization, ingestion rates, and overall system health.
  • Perform performance tuning and capacity planning.
  • Identify opportunities for operational efficiency and cost optimization.
  • Establish operational metrics and service health reporting.
  • Build and maintain documentation, engineering standards, and onboarding guides.
  • Improve the overall security telemetry ecosystem through engineering enhancements.
  • Support SOC analysts by providing reliable, high-quality security data and platform capabilities.
  • Recommend architectural improvements that increase visibility, scalability, and operational efficiency.
