Systems engineering is a cross-functional engineering discipline, centered on an approach, mindset, and process. All activities that consider both the business and the technical needs of the customers with the goal of providing a quality solution that meets the users needs. System Engineering discipline executes a robust process of design, creation, and optimization of systems, consisting of identification and quantification of system requirements, creation of alternate system design concepts, performance of design trade studies, selection and implementation of the best designs and verification that the design is properly integrated and executed.
This is a hybrid role which will require system engineering expertise on both tendering and execution projects.
Responsibilities
~2 min read- →Develop and submit system engineering technical proposals for client tenders
- →Lead and coordinate system design activities and tollgate reviews
- →Prepare and consolidate Cost-Time-Resource (CTR) estimates for system engineering scope, including alignment across product groups
- →Manage technical clarifications and exceptions with clients during the bidding phase
- →Identify project risks, assumptions, and qualification gaps early in the tender stage
- →Support the System Engineering Manager in delivering system engineering scope on assigned projects
- →Develop key system engineering deliverables such as Basis of Design (BoD), Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), and engineering philosophies
- →Prepare documentation and materials for system design reviews and technical evaluations
- →Ensure effective integration of multiple components and subsystems to achieve optimal system performance and operability
- →Support system requirements management, including specification development and flow-down to subsystems, products, and components
- →Assist in validation and verification activities, including system-level testing
- →Support technical interface management across internal teams and external stakeholders
- →Identify and drive technical opportunities for variation orders in collaboration with project engineering leadership
- →Support Critical to Quality (CTQ) assessment and risk trade-offs across multidisciplinary teams
- →Apply strong technical expertise and understanding of complex engineering concepts within the domain
- →Communicate effectively across teams and present technical insights to senior leadership and cross-functional stakeholders
- →Travel as required to support and supervise system testing activities
- →Manage assigned technical scopes, including issue resolution and delivery tracking
- →Act as deputy to the System Engineering Manager when required
- →Contribute to technical aspects of commercial pursuits, ensuring competitive and robust system solutions
- Have a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma/GED with at least 4 years of experience in Engineering/Technology), along with a minimum of 3 additional years of experience in Customer Project Engineering
- Have a minimum of 5+ years of experience in the Oil & Gas industry, with exposure to subsea production systems
- Have demonstrated ability to motivate teams and drive results in a collaborative environment
- Have a strong commitment to continuous process improvement and operational excellence
- Have a customer-focused mindset, with the ability to define quality standards and prioritize effectively
- Have strong oral and written communication skills
- Have strong interpersonal and leadership capabilities
- Have executive-level presentation and stakeholder engagement skills
