The Sourcing Specialist – Mexico Supplier Development will play a key role in optimizing the use of Best Value Country suppliers across North America, with a strong focus on developing sourcing opportunities within Mexico. This role partners closely with sourcing teams to understand business needs, identify competitive suppliers, and implement sourcing strategies that deliver deflation, quality, and operational excellence. Through market intelligence, supplier scouting, and cross-functional collaboration, the specialist will contribute to strengthening Baker Hughes' regional supply base and driving long-term sourcing success.
- Building strong relationships with key sourcing groups, primarily in North America, to understand sourcing requirements, challenges, and business priorities.
- Utilizing spending analytics and market intelligence to classify purchases into strategic commodities and identify sourcing opportunities with high potential for Mexico.
- Identifying, scouting, and evaluating suppliers through industry events, trade fairs, government agencies, business associations, and market research activities.
- Developing and maintaining a comprehensive Mexico Supplier Directory, mapping supplier capabilities and presenting sourcing opportunities to internal stakeholders.
- Launching and supporting RFQ processes, conducting supplier comparisons, and recommending the most competitive suppliers based on cost, quality, delivery, and growth potential.
- Supporting supplier development initiatives to drive cost reduction, continuous improvement, and long-term strategic partnerships.
- Assisting in supplier qualification and approval processes, including quality assessments, HSE reviews, technical evaluations, and business capability audits.
- Contributing to the development and execution of sourcing strategies that align with Baker Hughes business objectives in Mexico and North America.
- Collaborating with supplier leadership and operational teams to drive performance across quality, cost, delivery, and overall supplier effectiveness.
- Developing expertise in sourcing processes, supplier qualification methodologies, sourcing finance, and commercial negotiations in accordance with company policies and decision matrices.
- Have a Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Chemical, Electrical or related discipline), Business Administration, Commerce, Economics, or a comparable field from an accredited university.
- Have 3-5 years of sourcing, supply chain, procurement, manufacturing, or related industry experience.
- Demonstrate strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret spend data, supplier capabilities, and market trends.
- Be proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word, with the ability to develop presentations and sourcing analyses.
- Have excellent verbal and written communication skills in both English and Spanish.
- Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across functions and organizational levels.
- Have project management experience and the ability to prioritize and adapt in a fast-changing business environment.
- Be willing to travel approximately 10% to 40%, primarily within Mexico.
- Have knowledge of supplier qualification processes, sourcing strategies, and commercial negotiations.
- Possess experience in metal-mechanical manufacturing, CNC machining, welding fabrications, electrical, electronics, or related industrial sectors (preferred).
- Have exposure to analytics and business systems such as SAP, Oracle, Tableau, MS Access, or similar data management tools (preferred).
