This position is located within our Bureau of Administration, Finance Division. The Cashier operates a cash register or cash drawer in the acceptance of cash disbursements, cash transactions, issues receipts, and keeps record of such transactions ensuring the register is balanced at the end of each shift. The cashier makes sure all transactions run smoothly and that every customer is satisfied with the service provided. The cashier ensures theft is kept to a minimum, while keeping his or her work area neat and organized.

• Receive, count and disburses money and ensures correct payment and change.
• Operate the cash drawer and balance cash and check based on civic rec receipts.
• Issue receipts and licenses.
• Audits cash drop off from the overnight drop box and works with Brinks to schedule bank deposits.
• Run reports in Civic rec and complete settlements of cash

• Knowledge of arithmetic.
• Ability to count and handle large sums of money.
• Ability to operate a cash register.
• Ability to maintain accurate records.
• Ability to effectively communicate orally and to work well with the public.

Eligible candidates under final consideration for appointment to positions identified as positions of trust will be required to complete authorization for a Criminal Background Check and/or Fingerprint screening, and must be successfully completed.

All persons, including current City employees, selected for this position must complete a 6-MONTH mandatory probation.

This position is required to complete a Financial Disclosure pursuant to Sections 7-7, 7-8, and 7-9 of the City Ethics Law. The initial financial disclosure must be submitted within 30 days of hire.
