A Cashier Supervisor I directs and coordinates the operations and activities of a work unit engaged in the receipt and disbursement of money. Work of this class involves supervising cashiers.
Incumbents receive moderate supervision from a technical superior. Employees in this class work a conventional work week; however, weekend and evening hours may be required. Work is performed in an office where there is no exposure to uncomfortable environmental or hazardous working conditions. Work requires minimal physical exertion.

- Knowledge of the techniques and methods of collecting, disbursing and accounting for large amounts of money.
- Knowledge of a variety of complex office practices and procedures.
- Ability to comprehend and apply the techniques of first-level supervision.
- Ability to effectively communicate orally and to work well with the public.
- Ability to reconcile accounts.
- Ability to examine existing office procedures, to identify inefficiencies and to determine the most appropriate means of modifying them.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
- Ability to schedule work effectively and to shift work priorities in order to meet deadlines.
- Ability to maintain accurate records and prepare reports.
- Ability to count and handle large amounts of money.
- Ability to perform arithmetic calculations accurately.
- Supervisory ability.
Eligible candidates under final consideration for appointment to positions identified as positions of trust will be required to complete authorization for a Criminal Background Check and/or Fingerprint must be successfully completed.
All persons, including current City employees, selected for this position must complete a mandatory six-month probation.
Qualified candidates will be considered for vacancies as they arise, for a period of at least six months. The decision of the Director of Human Resources with respect to acceptable minimum qualifications is final.
