Base Pay Range: $74,470-105,000
The estimated range is the budgeted amount for this position. Final offers are based on various factors, including skill set, experience, location, qualifications and other job-related reasons.
Position Summary
The Trade Compliance Sr. Specialist (Import) plays a vital role in maintaining Banner Engineering’s compliance with global trade regulations. This position supports the Import & Brokerage Manager by ensuring operational accuracy, broker oversight, and data integrity. The Sr. Specialist contributes to import efficiency, cross-border scalability, and continuous improvement while maintaining strong collaboration across departments. As Banner continues to grow globally, this role ensures that import compliance remains effective, proactive, and aligned with the company’s strategic objectives.
This position reports to the Trade Compliance Import & Brokerage Manager

What You’ll Be Doing

Key Responsibilities
- Manage and execute daily import operations, ensuring compliance with U.S. Customs and international trade regulations.
- Maintain accurate and complete import documentation and records in accordance with governmental requirements.
- Collaborate with customs brokers to ensure accuracy and timeliness of import clearances and adherence to SOPs and KPIs.
- Assist in monitoring customs broker performance metrics, support broker audits, and ensure adherence to Banner’s KPIs and SOPs.
- Prepare and maintain pre-alerts, entry documentation, and item detail files for broker submissions.
- Monitor and resolve customs clearance issues, including ISF filings, valuation questions, and PGA requirements.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Customs and Partner Government Agency (PGA) regulations and tariff classification changes.
- Support accurate maintenance of HTS, Schedule B, COO, ECCN, and ADD/CVD classifications.
- Validate and maintain import data accuracy in QlikSense dashboards and assist in identifying reporting discrepancies or data quality improvements.
- Contribute to the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) and C-TPAT programs by ensuring compliance and supporting documentation.
- Assist with import audits, KPI tracking, and performance reporting through QlikSense and other systems.
- Collaborate with the Import & Brokerage Manager to identify and recommend process enhancements that improve import efficiency, accuracy, and compliance.
- Work cross-functionally with logistics, warehouse, and purchasing teams to ensure compliance and smooth shipment flow.
- Support peer training and knowledge-sharing efforts within the import compliance team to promote consistent understanding of import procedures.
- Identify and promptly escalate potential compliance risks, shipment delays, or broker discrepancies to the Import & Brokerage Manager for resolution.
- Support the Canada non-resident import program by sharing compliance knowledge and assisting with process and audit program development.
- Ensure adherence to Banner’s global compliance policies and contribute to maintaining operational excellence in trade compliance.

Required
- 5+ years of experience in Trade Compliance, Customs Brokerage, or Import Operations.
- Strong understanding of U.S. Customs regulations, HTS classification, valuation methodologies, and import documentation.
- Proven ability to manage broker relationships and ensure compliance accuracy.
- Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Proficiency with Oracle EBS and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to collaborate across departments.
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving abilities in a compliance or logistics environment.
Preferred
- Licensed Customs Broker (active or in progress).
- Bachelor’s degree in International Business, Supply Chain, or related field.
- Hands-on experience with QlikSense reporting tools or similar analytics platforms.
- Experience in FTA administration, COO analysis, and understanding of tariff stacking.
- Knowledge of Canadian import compliance and non-resident import regulations.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- This role may lead project teams or coordinate efforts across departments but does not have direct supervisory responsibility over other employees.
