The Clinical Opportunity Development department is the system-wide home for Banner Health's clinical registries, covering more than 16 national, state, and accreditation registries such as NSQIP, CathPCI, GWTG Stroke, STS, TVT, LAAO, Cancer COC, and mandatory state reporting. Following the transition from a legacy vendor model, the department now owns the full registry lifecycle in-house, from AI-assisted abstraction , QA, inter-rater reliability, and submission.

This work sustains hospital certifications and regulatory compliance, and it feeds the department's broader mission: turning registry data into national benchmarks, rankings strategy, and outcomes intelligence that go back to care teams, physician leaders, and nursing leadership to drive measurable improvements in clinical quality.
